The first story, though slightly unconventional (as is the theme, of course), is absolutely perfect! An original story stunningly complimented by Kumota's always gorgeous art style and perfectly adorable characters. Just perfect, everything about Kumota's work is always perfect! ♡

"Useless" BL-- All these are story concepts that failed to conform to the genre conventions of yaoi. There's no better way to understand the way that popular genres play novelty against expectation than to look at what has crossed the line into "failure." Reading these manga with an active, self-reflexive eye reveals much-- at least one story will cross out of your own taste. Look at which violate the fewest rules, and you find the ones the most fans like. The pleasure of this manga is in this meta, cerebral activity, and in the diversity of art and commentary. Plus we are gifted with the immortal line, "I don't consider fujoshi as real people." Bwahaha!

chapter 8 was fucking weird

Only the 1st history is the best... the others are confusing and/or short!!!

An anthology of oneshots by talented BL mangaka featuring ideas/settings that were either rejected in the past or which the mangaka thought would be rejected.

This volume is a thoroughly interesting and engaging read. Initially I was concerned that all the stories would be downers or full of violence and rape, but I was pleasantly surprised to see a good mix of stories and less violence and coersive sex than you find in your average run-of-the-mill yaoi (it's almost as if the publishers/editors think that sells... hmmmm).

Obviously some are better than others (and the one set in a concentration camp is certainly in very bad taste), but each and every one exudes the sense that the author had enough freedom to push the boundaries of traditional BL, even if only a little bit.

I highly recommend you check this out if you are at all a fan of BL. You won't like all the stories, but that doesn't matter. Where else will you actually find a character who is intersex, old, or fat? Or a volume of oneshots that are consistently set outside the usual office/highschool environments? Read it and imagine all the BL stories that could be possible if our expectations of the genre were not quite so rigid or if publishers were willing to take a few risks now and then.

1. leg/foot fetish coworkers- pretty sexy, nice art. 2. historical drama/shounen ai, about being an outsider 3. something about muy thai. nice art but didn't really get the story. 4. older couple reminiscing, sad 5. rewritable robot lover that solves a couple's argument. interesting premise. 6. a guy having a love affair with his electric fan, psychological 7. about a nazi and a prisoner who knew each other before the war. sad, bdsm. 8. mob kidnapping gets interesting. would actually like to see that in a longer format. 9. chubby top and handsome bottom, pretty cute and funny 10. cyclists, couldn't really tell who was who. 11.& 12.short stories and thoughts on making BL manga, some are pretty damn funny and insightful

It makes me sad that all of the manga ideas from chapter 12.2 were rejected. I would love some variety in BL plots, especially if they involved trans representation.

First one is sooooo cute. And there’s various stories, some of them are really nice! Worth reading!

A bunch of underated bittersweet bl stories...not the first one tho... only, it has smut on it....war era, (loves that old man story)ancient era, and so on.
8th story is bit ....hmmmm... weird I guess...I had to read it twice to make sure what's going on... lol (electric fan?!?)

Interesting and kinda bittersweet (from what we see at the end, it means at some point the sculptor returned to him at the village after his travels and they lived together, but then they died from a natural disaster. • Ch. 3 Khaa Thoong by Est Em - Boxing // Kickboxing - Quite unique and interesting this one! No doubt, it's by Est Em after all!
• Ch. 4 Natsu no Saigo ni Yosete by Umematsu Machie - Oyaji Romance // Megane Uke // Hospital Patient // Old Couple Reminiscing their past together // Memories // Death of Loved One // Tragedy - Sad.
• Ch. 5 Locas! by Okadaya Tetuzoh - Internet // Love Develops Online // Novelist|Poet // Gay Nightclub // Bartender // Secret|Mistaken Identity // Uke with Ear Piercings - 3 stars.
• Ch. 6 And Robo by Chiba Ryouko - After two lovers had a fight, one of them rented a robot made to look like his lover, but in the end he's just a substitute that needs to be returned after a few days and what is more his data will be erased and a new image will be given to him. Before that, he manages to have the two lovers make up with each other. Kinda sad the robot's purpose|fate! - 2 stars.

It was pure fetish and then the rest was kinda nice but as it went on the stories got alot more boring and then confusing, so basically there are some good ones in there...

So this is a oneshot compilation with the unheard theme with diff author (less known they say)
It is so interesting because the theme is not something you will usually encounter. And some really have good stories while others is really weird but interesting nonetheless. Half of its end felt hanging but still okay

Every chapter have a different story, there were some that were confusing, but overall good stuff kinda of. Really liked the couple that grew old together, it was so wholesome.
