i don't hate it, but i can't think of anything really good about it, either. all the rape jokes, misdirection, premature endings to intriguing set-ups. could have been good, but just wasted its potential. some of it could be the crummy translation, as well.
The story is pretty generic: childhood acquaintances seperated by circumstances then met again some years later, etc. The one thing that might've made the manga interesting was the weird mother and son dynamic, but it was brushed off and had a shallow/comedic explanation. Aside from the cons I've mentioned, the manga is too short (I know that this is a frequent problem in the yaoi genre, but still...)
Anyway, the main thing I liked in the manga is the illustration. There wouldn't be any confusion about the gender here because both uke and seme looked like men. Also, since both were previously straight, I appreciate the fact that they only kissed at first. Seems more realistic than going all the way right away.
seme's funny way of expressing attraction. who would suspect? #separated in elementary but reunited in high school after 6 years #gradeschool-level kind of attraction. Their bickering is funny and cute. I laugh at how petty they are. Now THIS is the kind of bullying that is adorable.
At first I thought it was really good, then as the story went on I grew more and more confused. The ending wasn't very good and the characters left much to be desired. This story just wasn't for me.
Wow. Two tsunderes lmao. Their love life is basically a re encounter after a re encounter until they both want to stay together. Rape jokes are still distasteful. Call me a killjoy or whatever, but I'd rather rape be taken seriously instead of a "humorous" way to imply sexual attraction or an inside joke that isn't really appealing or charming. Also, rape isn't something you want because that cancels the rape. So it's just wanted to be taken roughly or more possessively, not rape.
