One-sided love between a resentful servant from an oppressed racial minority background and a duke's daughter who has a terminal illness. The massive power imbalance and their rocky history lead the servant to deny her love for her master. Actions done in the name of love can be coercive, selfish, and sometimes even immoral but nevertheless, love is the most beautiful thing in our finite existence. 100/10
This manga explores the revengeful aftermath of the death of a detective's lover. Despite the dramatic plot, I think all readers can resonate with the protagonist's story. Love takes us by surprise and will light up our whole world, sometimes it will be stripped away for reasons outside of our control. The protagonists wrestles with regret and guilt regardless. Like the detective, we all wonder about what life would be like if we were better. 100 mental breakdowns/10
Tragedies have a special place in my heart and it isn't everyone's cup of tea but the art in here should be. It is beautiful. As the couple's budding romance is cut short, the audience begins to ponder what could've been. Although more tragic, this short story speaks to the fleeting beauty of short-term love. Maybe it is a girl you saw in a coffee shop or a crush you had for one semester, happiness and meaning aren't defined by its length but the quality of its duration
If you are like me, someone who spent all her time in highschool grinding :( and really no time gRinDinG ;) then this is for you. Jokes, there is no sex in here. Although I think I made the right choice working hard, sometimes I wonder if I missed out on highschool romance. Yes, it is silly and cringey but it is also a really delicate and sweet experience. This manga gave me all the angsty butterfly feels of a highschool romance but none of the real-life commitment.
One of my favourite yuris out there. A true masterpiece. This story, although it is an extreme depiction, explores the inherent power dynamic in relationships. Dependency will always exist in all forms whether it is financial or emotional, both can be equally as manipulative. A wealthy lesbian helps kill the husband of a straight girl whom she has loved for 14 years. Ah, the bat shit crazy things we do for love.
I am part of the early Gen Z era that had Ellen Degeneres as their only lesbian role model growing up. Although I knew I did not like guys I had no idea how lesbian relationships were supposed to look like (as weird as that sounds). This yuri documents the day-to-day mundane life of a long-term couple. It was incredibly heartwarming to see a lesbian couple being just a damn normal couple instead of the over-sexualized CEO-and-secretary or pseudo-incest trope that no one can relate to (I hope).
Yet another OG! What drew me to this was the depth of its characters. To be fair, at the time there really wasn't any depth to characters in yuri so this was a breath of fresh air. Despite both women harbouring a pessimism towards human relationships, they become deeply drawn to each other. As they have a doctor-patient relationship, they initially tread lightly to not overstep boundaries. This work marks the transition away from the shallow plots and stupid characters for the yuri genre
If you are like me and were raised in a conservative and traditional Asian home then this is for you! Love my mom but my god is she homophobic to the max. This story follows the relationship of a supermodel and a lawyer through the backlash of a conservative society. Art is BEAUTIFUL.
Citrus is part of the OG yuri era back when plots were oversaturated with sex and incest but representation was so limited that we settled for everything. Citrus is part of the latter division. This has beautiful art but I would be lying if I said that I liked the plot. The romance is too unrealistic and moves quite quickly. However, you wouldn't be reading manga if you were interested in facing reality anyways LOL JK. It is great for a huge dopamine hit as it is very cute.
Reader's biggest qualm with this gl is the lack of communication between the two leads which results in an unnecessarily cyclical progression. In the defence of entertainment and hot romance, aren't mundane and perfectly healthy relationships a bit boring LOL? Isn't the anxiety, misunderstandings, and drama what makes romance enticing and fiery? Leave the healthy relationship shit to reality. Also, these kids are 17. Don't act like you had anymore game at that age. 10/10

Looking at them
Your list is pretty awesome, but i do recommend you check out "Her ShimCheong" and "Dallaeya" cus they are good yuri pieces too in my op
Thnx for dallaeya
I just finished reading Relationship Guidelines two days ago, and I SO DAMN LOVED your review to a T!!! You took the words out of my mouth and heart. Those were the exact feelings I had after reading the manhwa. So, thank you!!! ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
Do you have recommendations like On a leash or Opium? More on psychological, historical, or dystopian setting?
Getting to Know Grace is a psychological/historical yuri masterpiece imo, Vengeance (written by same author as On A Leash), Gunjou is an amazing psychological even outside of the yuri genre (netflix made a movie based on it recently), For Garbage and Kill Me Know are on-going ones that are quite popular so you may have heard of them. Those are a few off the top of my head. Let me know if there are more specific plot lines you would like to find!
Thanks
Most stuff on here is good, I'm surprised blind passion is on here, it's good but the GL falls very short....
When I see getting to know grace I know your list is legit a masterpiece
