I really love this Manga but since there has been no update for a long time a thought came to me....if viewfinder will ever end how will it end
I really can't see a "happily ever afte" ending like in most Yaoi since compared to them Viewfinder is more practical and serious . So what will happen? I am really curious to know what others think of an ending.....

I don't think it will end happily ever after. I think it will probably end 'happily for now' like at the end of the Naked Truth arc: http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/you_re_my_loveprize_in_viewfinder/mh/v05/c030/43/

It could have finished there, and not all the loose ends would have been tied up, but they are clearly 'together for now' and who knows what the future holds.

I really like this theory, and I think it's totally on point. I feel like Sensei will probably just leave the real ending up to our imagination and allude to something rather than us getting anything concrete, so yeah, the "happy for now" sounds about right for me.

I guess you are right ...that sounds favorable and something sensei would do...

Hmmmmm maybe or if there has to be a concrete ending then I think one of our fans will die...like if ( God forbid) Aki dies then Asami being Asami will move on with his life but with a hollow gap in his heart which only Aki could fulfil.
And if Asami is gone the Aki will be left devastated....

Haha - oh gosh. I don't *think* Yamane Ayano will kill either of them off. I think she's a little bit too soft-hearted for that - like with Fei Long and Yoh not dying because they were fan favourites. She says in the vol 5 notes:

In fact, Fei Long seems to be marked for death from the very beginning... but as long as FINDER remains a BL story, that fate is very unlikely. In the same "marked for death" boat is Yoh, but even as a mere side character, he received so much support from readers that his fate was secured as well.

...but if she does, my god the fandom melt down would be epic. My vote in that case would be for Asami taking a bullet for Akihito and in his final moments in Akihito's arms admitting his feelings. Not a dry eye in the house and Akihito angst forever.

Although I don't think and don't want either of them to die, still I think if that will be the case then it will be better if Akihito takes the bullet suiting his character and confessing his love and dying before Asami can confess back leaving Asami full of regret...

I feel like the internal story of Akihito and Asami's feelings for each other is coming to an end. Now that Akihito has admitted to himself how he truly feels about Asami and understands how Asami feels about him, that conflict that has driven the story from chapter one is mostly resolved. All it really needs is for the external story--the action plot with Yuri and Mikhail and whatever is going on there--to drive a moment where they openly commit to each other (not necessarily "I love you," but you know, the general idea of it.)

So if we get that, if they both survive what's going on right now, I think that's pretty much the happy ending and it could fade into the sunset right there. Actually, that's the wrong ending cliche. Let's say it could go out with a bang. Har har. I absolutely don't expect either of them to die and will melt down with everyone else if that happens.

Where do you think the story could go from the end of this arc? It's really been Akihito's struggle with his feelings that has provided the tension for seven volumes (not counting volume 2.) There are all kinds of external things that could drive the plot but I think it would have to be something that was either fueled by or ignited something personal between Asami and Akihito.

If it has to end, I would hope for a happily for now--that at least gives us room to keep our own stories about them going, even if they are not official.

Well, shit. Every theory sounds so practical, and probable too. But I can't help but be *that* fan who somehow wants a mushy, lovey-dovey ending for these two. √(^ _ ^;;) I honestly doubt I'd even be ok with a 'Happily-for-now' scenario, for I desire something more complete, heartwarming, fulfilling, and yes, maybe a bit unrealistic and unlike the general strain of Viewfinder.
I'd be the 'crazy-over-attached-fan-with-mascara-running-with-tears' fan, should the 'fandom meltdown' be caused by a sad ending. Should something angsty happen, I might even stop reading right before that and make up my own 'Happily-ever-after' in my head.
I'm an idiot. (- _ -;)

I think you're right about Akihito's emotional arc coming to an end (I hope so, it's been going for years, and starting it up again would feel like a backwards step.) What I'd like to see next, if it doesn't end, is an arc which deals with the moral implications of Asami’s criminal activities coming home to roost.

Sensei has hinted repeatedly in the manga that one of the themes is Akihito being morally compromised by his relationship with Asami. There's lots of references to being sucked into Asami's darkness, falling down the rabbit hole, falling into Asami's world etc but the implications haven’t really been fleshed out. Asami has an ability to draw people to him - Fei Long, Sudou, Kuroda, Kirishima and inspire intense feelings, that's been made quite clear. The only ones who seem immune - Mikhail, Sakazaki - are corrupt already. This arc has Akihito is working for Asami to find out who leaked the photo, having earlier sworn that was something he'd never do.

So the next arc could look at that particularly. They have mutually acknowledged feelings for each other, but that doesn’t mean what Asami does is right. So perhaps something like Asami under investigation by a DA who can’t be bought? A trial which puts Asami and Akihito on difference sides of a moral issue. Does Akihito give evidence – he knows Asami has killed people – does Asami spend time in prison (excellent opportunity to draw him in handcuffs again.) I could see lots of potential in a conflict like that – I care for you, but I have to make this stand against you - if you care for me, why would you betray me like this - Intense staring across a court room, snatched moments during a prison visit, a prison break out, Akihito in protective custody, is Asami watching him? does he intend to revenge himself for Akihito’s betrayal…? (Answer yes, probably – with sex...).

That's just an example, but anyway an arc to conclude that unfinished theme of moral corruption - that okay you love each other, but Akihito you have been sucked into Asami’s darkness as you always feared – so now what? - is an idea that could be developed.
