Hey chillnobody forced you to read it besides even if it's bad if it's not there all the time yaoi would really miss out on a lot of what it has now besides shingo didn't hate it ya know

I agree that rape in real life is awful. It's the worst, but then this is YAOI. It's kinky stuff meant to turn you on. And what turns you on varies among people. You'll have to steer clear of most yaoi if it doesn't do it for you. I'd suggest that you stick with this series, though, because it's fabulous! So yummy! <3
(/)*q*() One of my absolute favorites!

Rape in yaoi has nothing to do with rape culture. It is primarily created by women for women and provides a safe place where female readers can explore their own sexual desires, free of the gender baggage placed on them by society. It's the old ravishment fantasy dressed up in a new name.

Condemning yaoi, shaming those whose needs are served by reading it and claiming it should be stopped actually plays into rape culture far more than the work itself by a misguided attempt to repress female sexuality. Stop it.

At the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference. They're not condemning yaoi as a whole, just expressing dislike of a common trope that it's perfectly fine to take issue with. Educating people on kinks is fine and can be extraoridinarily helpful, but telling them to stop having a differing opinion doesn't help anyone.

I disagree. This isn't about opinions. This is about someone having a poor understanding of what rape culture is and how it differs from the ravishment fantasy. These are two different things. Dislike the ravishment fantasy and its expression as the rape trope in yaoi, yes. But do not conflate it with rape culture. That is wrong and yes, that should stop.
