What's the deal with the Kappa?

So the kappa hut was actually an old man hut and I think the boy B was getting raped by the old guy and there were those video of it in the hut. Then six years after that, they burned the hut and killed the old man and sunk him in to the river.

I was quite disturbed by the story since I couldn't understand why they burned the hut which I don't know whom it belonged to.
