I think half the likes are probably from me haha. I love the questions yet don't know the answer. So it's my way of saying hang in there and hope someone answers because I would love to know as well.
Maybe they don't know the answer to your question so they just click the thumbs up or they also want to know the answer to your question this is just my guess..

Questions get less reply because it's difficult to see page 2 onward.. So most just reply the ones they see on first page.
When they can easily see many pages, once people online they just keep replying.. I even replied to the question I last replied.

It's still there but who's gonna bother to click one by one to see question to help other find something.
It decreases the chance people to find each other down to be 1/5.
When we still could just scroll down to read 'Question Section', many people who couldn't online everyday, they scanned 10-20 pages whenever they visited.
Many users even the non-registered ones came back to 'Thank you' me for what I replied WEEKS ago. But now many people don't even know how to find their question which just dropped to another page, no need to mention the helpers.
