the real knight June 6, 2016 6:01 pm

i know the author tried to make it seem like it was kaname and that's probably where she went wrong

kaname was the king (how he played everyone like chess pieces, manipulative shithead), yuuki was the princess (a stupid one at that), it would've been appropriate to make zero the knight given his role and everything he did, but the author was an idiot, probably realized "oh, i screwed up, i wanted kaname to be the knight" and then ended up trying WAY too hard to make it so, and instead just succeeded in ruining the whole manga and turning kaname into an asshole psychotic rebel king...

the knight role will never suit him because he's part of the royals (purebloods), and she made a mess of the manga, basically destroying it to try and make it happen, only to still be unsuccessful...

if she wanted him to be the knight, she would've had to make him and yuuki unrelated, and not give him so many ulterior motives and manipulative characteristics, knights are protectors, and he was basically trying to destroy everything...

because she so desperately tried to make kaname the knight, she just kind of left zero hanging on the side, even after kaname had basically used him exactly like a knight to protect yuuki and fight for him... knights are the tools and the author majorly screwed up... unless in her head she's going for the asshole knights that made serfs do all the fighting, and zero was a serf, then she did a great job!

manga still sucks though

    I'm so with you. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
I'm really into this series. when the story starting messy, at first it didn't bother me, but later it became so horrible that I stopped reading halfway. (╯°Д °)╯╧╧

Just to say that kaname and tiki were actually unrelated, kaname was an very very old vampire (the first pure blood I think) when the uncle of yuki gave her real brother to sacrifice for kaname he tooked the baby's place

It's not that she messed with Kaname's symbolic role, it's that, from the looks of it, you didn't really understand that the original role of "knight" already belonged to him. It makes better sense if you think of it chronologically, rather than in the sequence were are told. He played the "knight" to the Hooded Woman's "queen" when he planned to sacrifice his very life to protect the humans, you know, to give mankind the ability to fight back against the ancient purebloods. Except, like royalty tends to do, she took charge of the situation herself, all to protect him.
(And on that note, I can't help but think that your ideas about what does and does make a character a "knight" are a bit...fixed? maybe? and a narrow too...?)
Anyway, after her death, he elevated himself to the symbolic and then literal role of "king" in order to ensure that it wouldn't been in vain by founding and leading the Hunter's Association, and, later, the Vampire Monarchy.
One of the reoccurring themes of the manga is the reflective relationship between Zero and Kaname. They have so much in common, but their mutual affection for the same girl only pushes them, the only two in each other's whole lives who can comprehensively empathize with them, further and further apart. Things are further worsened by their age: Kaname being old, weary and pragmatic, and Zero being young, wounded and rebellious. Though they both have their reasons for the latter-most of the differences age brings in the scenario, (and good ones too, Kaname believing his earnest, naive trust led to the death of the Hooded Woman, and Zero believing the same since it not only cost his Master, Yagari Touga, an eye, but Zero his family), its actually quiet tragic in retrospect.
This idea of innocence lost is actually another, rather important theme in the manga, incarnate physically in Yuki in several ways: her naive personality, her status as a human that mercifully spares her the fate of bloodlust, and her maidenhood. The second is the first to go, the first we are led to believe soon follows after the beginning of Kaname's plan and her false "betrayal," and by the time she realizes that she had only been fooled so that she could be spared the pain of missing him, and truly matures, the third soon departs and Ai Kuran is conceived.
All in all, it was a masterful thought, though a trite rushed in the end -that certainly required better execution than it was given, but matters were out of Hino Matsuri's hands at the point, so I can't fault her.
What this all boils down to however, in the face of your...misunderstanding of what occurred, is that you probably need to go back and read it through with a more open mind.
    Hope this helps!
If you need a more thorough explanation of Kaname's character evolution pre-manga, during the manga, and post the main manga, I'd be happy to help. I'd even throw in a compare and contrast with Zero, and an exposition on the symbolism used, and themes of the manga...!
    Just message me~

you should probably look up the definition of a knight, cause if you have to jump through loops just to justify the author's lack of logic, chances are--

Nah, I think Yuki's brother was killed and Kaname just rejuvenated itself into a baby. Anyway, it's not like in this world it matters for the vampires since Yuki's parents were brother and sisters. Yuki was actually expected to get with her brother.
