I recommended this manga to a friend but she said that their relationship is unhealthy and abusive and that the sex is only one side, with Taki being swayed by Klaus. It kinda left me speachless because i enjoyed the story and never thought about it that way. So can somebody help me put into words and highlight the moment which prove that their relationship is not as bad as she thinks?

If we read the story superficially and only focus on the hot sex scenes (i used to do that, so) we might think like your friend and can't understand the hidden meaning. The love between Klaus and Taki is the most pure, passionate, unconditionally love i've seen in boy love stories.

Their love've been grown slowly from fateful moments, the first time they met under the tree and in Eurote school. You can see in first chapter, Taki waited for Klaus to come in the pouring rain and then Klaus recall Taki said 'as long as they're together anyplace will be fine' in the raining old day. Taki really love Klaus, their ralationship isn't one side love or just sex. Taki knew Klaus' dedication for him but he never took advantage of it. Taki gave Klaus his body for the first time because he loves Klaus, he saved his purity strictly but when it was Klaus, he knows the purity doesn't matte compared to the one you love. In sex, Taki wants Klaus too (you can see how he react when they making love in chap 3, chapter 11 extra...). In vol 2 Taki lost his mind and fired the train, he want to get revenge. He kisses Klaus in people's deterrence try to wakehim up from the Death. They're really scare to lose each other. The way Taki fall in Klaus arms, his worries for Klaus, you can feel the love and yearn in Taki's actions. Taki wants to be with Klaus but his fate is to be a maiden rose and there's a country he must take responsibility for. You can see it fisrt 2 chapters and so many time, Taki repress his feeling for Klaus because of the fight (but he's also seen to be almost breaking it when Klaus was at danger).

Klaus' love and desire for Taki everyone can see. Where can we find a person give up his country, his civil rights and come to a enemy country, fight for foreign people refuse all of his abnegation for them and also want to kill him? Where can we find a man willing to die for a person who always rejects him? Klaus love Taki and he understand if he wants to be with Taki, he must save his lover's country first.
Klaus gone mad because of Taki's cold, he can't get it why Taki always represses his true feelings. Acorrding to Klaus (and all normal people) making love and touching are the things lovers do (sex between lovers isn't abuse and unhealthy, right?). Taki's negativity made Klaus thought it was like he's raping his lover and making love's dirty thing. He gave up his all and came to Taki's country because of love and then even the one he loves thought his passion for him was dirty, he doesn't get anything in return, it hurts. And when he knew Taki's reason, Klaus promised to not touch Taki anymore...

War makes the true love become the most struggle and tragedy.

Thank you! You perfectly put into words what I feel :) now I know what parts highlight to maybe make my friend understand that they really love each other.
Now that I think of it, it may be because they do have a lot of sex and Klaus is rather "big" comparing to Taki so it might look like they aren't equal in sex.
    Thanks again ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
