To be honest, that kind of thing is pretty typical of yaoi. Probably to make the uke more cutesy and in constant need of rescuing/help from the seme. Kinda irritates me to be honest but what can ya do ╮(￣▽￣)╭

I realized it too, chapter 9 I think we get to see where his character changes from the original to the one the artist stuck with....when he started crying about Kaede...it's not a bad thing I think maybe she was trying to go for the whole "love changes you" or something, but we do know he is ditzy from the beginning, so that stays...but yeah, it'd be nice if he was a little less obedient...but eh, It's still one of my favorites!
He is still less obedient, but it ia apparent that they are super lovey dovey so the character development somehow makes sense
I didn't see it like that, since he is quite clumsy from the beginning and there wasn't any real defiance towards Kaede in the beginning as well. What I do see is that his character does develop. He learns how to handle Kaede and how to be a little more cunning.
Does aanyone else notice Rintarou's character change? He goes from being a typical defiant high school boy to a ditzy bunny boy who can't do anything. Don't get me wrong; I don't hate this manga at all, I'm just curious about the direction the story would go if he kept his original character
