That is an interesting question and totally depends on your view of Asami. If you think Asami is "aware" of his own feelings and is not being pulled by just lust and if he can really read Takaba through his feigns and frowns. In my head canon, it is a game of lust that they are both playing at. neither are aware how deep they have fallen. That changes when Fei enters. by the time Takaba rats Asami out to Fei to save his friends Asami knows he is in love with this boy. by the Hong Kong arc Asami knows Takaba loves him Takaba's add. does not change, but something abt. Asami is diff. to me. this is just my OP.

I chose to believe that Asami has always somehow been more aware of Aki's true feelings and desires than Aki himself is. This involves a certain suspension of disbelief on my part, but I enjoy it as part of a story.

interesting. i suppose that as was said above it will depend on each person's view. To me it seems that Asami is well aware that Akihito has a strong attachment to him. His loyalty towards Asami is unquestionable and even though Asami's close circle is very loyal to him (Kirishima, Kuroda) by now I'm certain Asami has figured out that Aki's loyalty is different in nature from that of the other two. Whether Asami knows it stems from Aki being IN LOVE with him, and not just due to lust, or attraction, or so on, I can't tell. Sometimes I think Asami can read Akihito pretty well,... and then sometimes I think he still finds himself surprised by what Aki says or does. Like in this scene:

Interesting question. I find it hard to tell because we so rarely get a glimpse into Asami's mind. I'll throw in this thought though: When Aki tried to run away and was brought back, Asami had suspicions he was seeing someone else and was clearly jealous. So question is: Would Asami have reacted the way he did at the time if he had been certain of Aki's feeling for him? Not saying that he wasn't. On the other hand, I just don't know if he was at that time.
But let's assume that he is aware of it, then the next question would be: At what point did it become apparent to him? Is there a moment when we are able to tell that he knows? I think that back in the Penthouse panic room during the attack, when Aki refused to leave him, that was the moment Asami knew for certain:

I would say no, at that point, Asami doesn't get it. He badly misunderstands what Aki is saying here, and his reaction is not the reaction of a man who believes himself to be loved. It is the reaction of a man believes he has just been told that in order to hold the thing he loves, he will have to tie it down:

If Aki loved him, there would be no need for this. And then this is not a happy man, secure in the feelings of his partner. This is a tormented, uncertain man:

He's turned off the water and is just standing there, arms braced on the walls, head hanging, brooding. This is one of my favorite frames in the whole series. It's so glum and moody! And this mood of Asami's extends through the next scene with Kuroda. The mood lifts dramatically at this point:

...when Aki lets it slip that he's jealous of Sudou. That's when Asami knows. Maybe not that Aki loves him but that Aki cares enough to be jealous.

Then I think we forget how quickly the story moves in the story's time. In our time, it's been three years. But in the story's time, it's only been a couple of days from this point to where we are now. So the next night, Aki is kidnapped by Sudou and has his own little revelation about his value to Asami. So it's really only been a couple of days between Asami realizing Aki does care for him and then this newly assertive Akihito climbs into his lap and says he won't give up on him. So yeah, I think the scenes in the panic room and on the roof are where it's really driven home for Asami that Akihito loves him.

I think Asami knows that Aki is in denial and tries to run a lot. Asami is confident that no one else can make Aki feel that way (and I think that Asami knows that Aki loves him deep down) but Asami has good reason to believe Aki may run (and may even run to someone else). It seems like the reason Asami is so irrational as to be jealous is that he is not fully comfortable with the depth of his own feelings. Asami hates being vulnerable, and Aki is his Achilles' heel.

I think that not knowing what's really going on in Asami's head is one of the things that makes Finder such an interesting read. I mean, the man is just one big question mark in the Feels area. For all we know, he might yet not be AWARE himself that he is IN LOVE with Akihito ╮(￣▽￣)╭
