Webtoon with efficient panelling

Golden January 26, 2017 2:46 am

I've read 5 webtoon so far, finished none of them. Ignoring the art style and story quality which is various, their panel design is uniformly so inefficient and sometimes bland. Discuss. I think maybe because they don't need real papers to make it ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ and if there's suggestion for webtoon with more normal panelling.

Generally webtoons are made to have a single page that's constantly scrolled down though. Thus instead of type setting and page layout as concerns, they use white spaces when scrolling to set the pace of the story. Inefficient as it may be, when done skillfully they consider how quickly people scroll through the art and read line by line. Shifting side to side to allow the reader to force themselves to look at all aspects as they scroll. Larger font for emphasis and smaller boxes for smaller, world building detail.
Albeit despite this being the concept naturally not every author is particularly good at it, or simply have their own style. Of course there are also the starved artists that add as much drama as they can to encourage purchasing of the next chapter after a cliff hanger.

But as a personal preference, if you want a really good webtoon I suggest you check out the author "Jun Lee" who has written some very heart warming and emotionally touching stories such as
"Eternal Winter" and "Season of Su" a couple solid stories right there.

Try kissmanga and uae the option All instead of One Page. Or go to webtoon. That way you can scroll down and read it as it's ment to be. It flows much better than when they are arbitrarily chopped up.

Webtoons are meant to be read as 1 single super long page where you can just scroll down instead of clicking the arrow/button for the next page. If you read it in single pages that have been cut in order to fit the panel of these manga websites, it actually kinda frustrating and ruin the mood. I enjoy webtoons, though, if you read it the right way it's as if seeing a movie rather than reading something lol =))))

you should set it as 'multiple page' option. But yeah, that option is not available at some devices idkw ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ I normally read webtoons on my ipad because my laptop only has single page option Σ( ̄□ ̄||)

Personally, I actually prefer the manhwa/webtoon style. I like manga too, of course, but often the pages are so busy that I feel a bit overwhelmed when trying to absorb what it is that the author has drawn. As a result, since webtoons have more spacing between panels and a more simplistic design, I find it easier to appreciate each scene and the artwork. As others have mentioned though, the singular column feature does prove to be a bit problematic on sites like this unless you read using the multi-page setting. ^_^

Wow, I never expected to get such a lengthy explanation, thank you guys (▰˘◡˘▰) I will read all the webtoon suggestion maybe I will have better experience. I should search for horror genre too, it'll be interesting reading it without the turn of a page technique.
