Not much to do. That's pretty much a fatal blow. He was basically dead the moment he got stabbed. Put all the pressure on it you want, he'd still die long before an ambulance arrived.
I agree, however I think if I was in that situation I would of still tried.
Was I the only one who kept mentally screaming "Fu*cking put pressure on the wound and call the God Damn ambulance! Do something, don't just sit there hugging him!" Then it turned out to be a dream, but still...
