They are preparing Kunimasa to take his grandfathers place of being the leader of madararui, so he "needs more suitable" bride. Even though Norio is quite special and I think he isn't that weak like everybody thinks he is.
Regarding to Vulnera and Shinobu, I think Makio and her dad had something to do with it, since mermaids are on top of madararui pyramid. Vulnera is half
(mermaid+lion), he can still do some crazy s***. Mermaids are quite powerful beings.That's why he is able to communicate with Shinobu, also when ever there's water near Vulnera can manifest and manipulate it and in it etc etc etc
I think he is interesting character.
The thing is, they've established all the way from the beginning that Norio is the perfect partner for Kunimasa. Nothing has changed regarding their positions, if the family found Norio to be unsuitable they should have been against their relationship from the beginning. And why would Kunimasa propose right before dumping him? It just doesn't make sense.
I get that vb is powerful, but I think we need some more explaining. He is indeed an interesting character, but the whole arc is rather vague and does not do the characters justice.
Kunimasa will have lot of load to carry, he now understood it and don't want to burden Norio with all that stuff what will come being a successor. He let him go cause he loves him.
I think sensei isn't done with this manga and you will get your answers later. Some things are slow and that confuses ppl cause there aren't enough info yet.
Just wait and see where all this story with lot of characters takes us :)
We'll get answers in the future if sensei is still working on this whole madararui world manga. Lot of characters and many storylines unfinished.

Sorry, but if that's Kunimasas mindset he's a dick haha. He should maybe have thought about that a bit earlier. Norio is way in way to deep to be able to just go back to his old life now. But yeah, we'll have to see. Maybe the mangaka is able to save the situation later, but how it is right now I'm not too optimistic.
Let's really hope for the better. Manga is quite wishy washy with whole flashbacks etc
No progress with his brother Yonekuni, poor Shiro- he needs some sex & lovey dovey time, but Yonekuni hates men as we know, thanks to his daf's partner. Actually he hates men, then comes foreign men and on the top of his list are men who are artists :D His dad partner David is all 3, he got some childhood trauma being smothered by David. Specially all that kissu kissu on his lips etc
Shinobu and Vb were never meant to be together. Shinobu was sent to be Vb's teacher just so that his family will have an excuse to get rid of him for the next few years. Vb had a reputation of harming and killing all his former teachers, I guess Shinobu's father hoped it would be the same case now.
When Vb and Shinobu fell in love it was against anything the royal families and the leaders hoped for. Instead of an easy way to get rid of his son, suddenly the head of the Maderame was responsible for the unwanted love between the king in making of the whole spirit world and a bastatd nobody from Japan that was better not being born at all. When Vb and Shinobu realised they are going to be seperayed forever, Shinobu decided to kill Vb and then kill himself. They both hoped to die together.
But that didn't work out. They are still madly in love with each other, even though the way things look right now- they will not be allowed to be together ever again.
Vb is a mermaid, it is not the traditional half human with fish tail. It is a spirit so large and so powerful it cannot be trapped into a physical body. Normal humans 'monkeys' cannot see him, only other Maderuri who are powerful and observant enough to be able to 'sense' the spirits of the world that are not physical- can notice him. Nori didn't even understand he was seeing a spirit, since he can't yet tell the difference even though he is so powerful naturally, he can not only see him but 'touch' his own spirit with Vb and for it to imitate reality. As a Mer Vb has the ability to manipulate water, anywhere, anytime, and travel in his spirit form as long as he can escape the barriers that make him stay in place, it takes a lot of effort to the point of nearly killing him once (black hands, remember?), so he can only do it for maybe a few hours at a time if he finds a hole in a cage around him. He is usually caged near water (on a ship, by a pool) because the water gives him the only sense he can have of something resembeling a normal 'body' and it keeps him sane. He can 'touch' Shinobu eithet by manipulating water, or by reaching Shinobu's high-sensetive spiritual awareness to a degree of almost a skin against skin sensation.

I'm late to the party, started reading this like yesterday and have now finished it all. I have so many thoughts.
Imo everything is going downhill. The art has become better, but with that all of the characters look totally different and it's so hard to keep track of everybody. All of the story arcs were good until Shinobu and vb. Okay, I am intrigued by their story, but it doesn't make sense at all. Why did Shinobu try to kill vb? Does vb have a body now? And did Shinobu forget everything that happened? And how are they communicating? It seems like they are talking to each other but they're not in the same room and I'm just so confused.
And what is even happening with Norio and Kunimasa? It makes NO sense for Kunimasa to first propose to Norio and then break up with him the next second. "He's trying to protect him', bullshit. You can't get someone so involved in your world, even talk about marriage and starting a family together, and then dump their ass. It's not to protect him, it's to force drama into the story line.
Okay, I feel like I got very harsh there, haha. But I'm honestly so annoyed. I think because I read everything in basically one siting, the downfall of the story was very obvious to me. The story was always complicated, but at least it used to make sense. (Oh and KarenxMakio best couple)
