they should be sweet, but some are bitter and bittersweet XD
Make sure you eat local ones... the ones I buy from the store are always bitter and they're the ones transported from California, but when I go to a strawberry patch and pick my own and they'll taste 10x better! There are also different variations, personally, I love Hood strawberries - they're so sweet and soft
If you get fresh picked strawberries or ones from a local farmer, they are small and very sweet. Chain store berries are usually picked green, force ripened and shipped long distances ... they lose their flavor.

Strawberry season is spring and early summer, for peak ripeness. Where I live there is a strawberry festival every year, usually in May!
Are they supposed to be sweet? I've never tasted a sweet one. They're always so bitter that I cringe. I can't tell if I just don't like the taste or if I've never actually had a sweet strawberry...
