You can't judge a whole genre based on one book. For instance if I read Naruto for the first time and disliked it (just an example, I do like Naruto) wouldn't it be ignorant of me to say that Shounen in general sucks?
This is more of a Jousei type of Yuri, so it might not be for everyone. As TPB said, you might want to try a work from Morinaga Milk. She has some really great works, like Girl Friends which is probably my favorite manga.
