the story is confusing but what happens is that he is cursed and the brother harbors feelings for the dead/alive brother so he went to stay with his demon lover's family. then he gets killed and his brother trys to sacrifice his life for his brothers, but the brother made a contract with a demon while he was in the underworld so he shares a soul with his lover until his own soul regrows after the demons that he exorcised ate him

Alright here goes so pretty much to put it simply takashi was born of a demon mother (I think) and was able to consume other demons that's why that was his nickname. He hated his brother hiroshi for killing his demon lover. In the end he is killed but given the choice to share his soul with his lover konome. He needs to spend time waiting for his soul to regenerate or training (something like that) before he can return to the human realm. Then of course there were other small parts like how he came to have the guardians he has and how he met konome. Hiro was basically a doll or homonculous that Hiroshi created though I'm not sure why. I think that's pretty much it in the end life goes on while takashi waits until he can return to his body.
