    Yeah ! An other french ! Donc pour revenir a nos moutons, cela correspond plus ou moins a des bruits successifs et rapides ... genre des bruits de pas précipités .

    I'd say (which might be completely wrong)..that's just a sound-effect gone wrong ^^ People normally DON'T "rattle" while drowning, so whatever it originally was, it probably was meant to express that she's hanging there limply in the bath-tub, almost drowning. Another possibility might be, that it's related to him making noise with the door out of shock... but well, most translators exclaimed they've been to "sfx-hell" and back, so my guess is as good as yours (≧∀≦)
