akira is such a cruel person saying that he wanted to create a bond so that he would never forget. in the end the only one he couldn't forget is his wife! if he had intended to forget about tsujimura sensei from the start he shouldn't have tie him down with that actions and words. so cruel, selfish and irresponsible!

I don't think its like that o: The ending was actually suppose to be sweet and give the readers a sense of heart break but at the same time, relief and happiness. They both loved each other really much, but because they are both males, people would look down on. In page 12 of chapter 38, Akira said that the marriage was arranged by his parents. It wasn't by his own choice. He can't decline because "I can't do anything to shame them," so he's thinking about his parents. But Akira really does love Motoharu. I think the ending was great. I cried so many times, but then I couldn't help but smile. If you read more into it, Akira dies and Motoharu still loves him even when he's old. (Or at least thinks about him.) The ending shows Motoharu in his old age meeting the main character of Hana No Mizo Shiru, Misaki , the child of Akira. Motoharu says "I always wanted to meet you," and it seems like he went back into time.
