Satoshi and Akira both are jerks, the first for not being sincere with his feelings and the second for deceiving his lover Misato.
I think the one suffering the most now is Satoshi when he found that Mei was dating Misato for real. Don't hurt others if you don't want being hurt.
In the end Mei and Misato found true love but what a painful love. I hope one day Misato will believe and trust Mei
