I was hooked by the beautiful illustration of the snowy trees on the first page of the chapter 4 update and expected something really spectacular, but the story was formulaic and pedestrian and the artwork went for cute and boyish over something more subtle. I wasn't tempted to read further on, which is a pity because, from that one winter scene, I think the mangaka has the potential for something quite powerful.

Another manga by the same mangaka? Or another manga by someone else entirely? From the comments under the Topics section, I'm scared to poke the links to previous chapters, no matter who drew them or why. About chapter 4, itself, there is a huge difference between that one beautiful opening illustration, and that dud of a story which followed it, so ...

Well, to form an answer... I'm not entirely sure if it is another manga or what- but I do know that it's a picture that's completely unrelated to the story you read. the picture you're referring to is simply the translator's introductory page. You know, the one where they put their group name on and stuff. It's common to see groups do this before translating.

I'm sorry that you ended up expecting too much out of this story too, because really, you shouldn't have. It's just an average love story between two guys. You've got the two main players, some conflict, some drama, and then a sex scene or two thrown somewhere in the mix to make things hot. It's really nothing more than that.

I'm actually not even sure how you came across this story if you were looking for something more meaningful or whatever. If you wanted a story with more meat to it, then I would suggest looking through the josei, seinen, or slice of life genres. Or maybe take a look at the number of chapters a manga has. The more there are, the better fleshed out the characters tend to be (Although, this is also a debatable topic).

Either that, or look at the comment sections in the manga before trying to read it. You can usually tell what sort of story you'll be getting into by the reactions people have.

-ahem- anyways, sorry for getting carried away. I was just miffed that you called the story a dud because you were expecting more out of it than what was reasonable. I don't actually mind the fact that you dislike the story; I just find it a bit annoying that you'd dislike it because it didn't live up to the standards you unfairly gave to it. [ Although, you didn't know that the staff page wasn't actually part of the story- so with that reasoning, I'm not actually all that annoyed. ]

Well, I did expect a story that was commiserate with the staff page illustration, yes, and there are plenty of excellent yaoi stories that have interesting plots and characters, even in one-shots, so I disagree that a reader shouldn't have such standards just because it's yaoi. And, to be fair, I'm not offended by the story. I just wish the artist had taken it deeper.

I Read the fouth story a long time ago. Think it was just accidently link. It's a cute short storY about a virgin Doujinshi mangaka and his fan.

You know what? You're right. I was being too critical. The story is cute and inoffensive. There are a lot worse ones out there.

I have got to say... at first I was thinking "well if you didn't like the manga, just say you like the picture and move on, you don't have to degrade the manga because you're pissed." But then after reading your guys' comments back and forth, and you apologized for your misunderstanding, I instantly smiled and thought "well there's a decent person still left on the face of the earth!"

My status quo is to make sure that I don't snap before I know a situation, but when I do snap I must apologize for my actions; whereas the rest of the world snaps and never says shit about it, but rather gets defensive, blames it on you or someone else, and act as though THEY are the victims in a "How dare they get mad at me for dumping shit on them, and then confronting me?!" kind of way.

It's honestly nice to see someone actually STEP UP and apologize for something, since NO ONE knows how to admit when they make a mistake anymore nowadays! Taking responsibility and growing the hell up is UNHEARD OF in this day and age! It's almost treated like the plague! "I wasn't wrong, I was just saying it differently and you heard it wrong!" or some shit... and it's "never anyone's fault when they f*ck up your day," it's "never their responsibility," because they're all just a bunch of immature children who never grew the hell up.

I just wanted to let you know, that I respect you, and I am highly grateful for your actions here, (however insignificant some may find it), since it is such a rarity to find in this shit hole of a dump we call "Society" anymore... so thank you. Thanks for being a better person. Thanks for giving this generation some hope. And thanks for accepting responsibility like an adult and being a shining example to the rest of us out here! Even though this wasn't a very serious issue, it puts my mind at ease knowing that there's at least ONE other person out there who is doing their damnedest like I am!
