Legal Matters

I know this may sound rude of me but this manga is liscensed as in CAN NOT BE TRANSLATED AND/OR PUBLISHED WITHOUT EXPRESS PERMISSION FROM THE COMPANY OR AUTHOR WHO PUBLISHES THE MANGA!!!!

To the person who did this thank you for caring about the fans out there who were waiting for this chapter but you just stole work from september and basically stole a chapter from Love Stage!'s author. Your intentions were good but you could get into some serious trouble by doing this. So please, for your safety, do not do this again in the future. Thank you. :)

As opposed to all the other published manga that are on this site? And just because it's published doesn't mean everyone can get their hands on it. Not everyone lives in the US.

This is not the only one here, if you have not noticed.
I'm going to buy a Sublime version when it comes out, because the book versions are much better! ^^
    However, take a little wait...

I don't live in the US. I live in Japan so I know how much trouble this person can get into. In fact I can report it right now but I'm not going to because I believe in second chances. If this person scanulates another chapter wothout permission there will be consequences.

I like this manga as much as the rest of the readers here, but please show a little restraint. There are valid arguments to be had on both sides of the scanlation debate, but nobody needs to receive abuse when they point out that the story is licensed and that the site should not be hosting updates. They know it's not a popular statement to make, and they aren't doing it to hurt our feelings. They are simply pointing out that posting licensed work leaves the site vulnerable to legal meddling. All it takes is one letter from the publisher's legal department, and this entire story could be taken down. They could also create a lot of problems for the website owners, which could result in a lot more removals of other stories or even the site itself — something which has happened at other reading sites and which made the web far less friendly and interesting for yaoi readers.

Personally, I like this site and I want it to be around for many more years ....

It's because you guys are hurting the yaoi licensing industry. If they would be taking titles out, it would only be the ones that you can actually buy from them. Scanlations actually hurt sales as stated above, especially for a struggling Sublime; their whole business is at stake. They're really passionate about yaoi themselves, so to them its disheartening.

"We have to publish what sells so we can stay in business, and what sells is what you see published. :-) We've experimented with a few titles that we knew would probably not sell well, but we still wanted to offer up some varied choices. Unfortunately, we were right and they didn't. IF the popular stuff sold well enough, we'd make enough to offset the cost of less popular titles so that we could continue to offer a variety of titles. Until that happens though, the selection will remain more for the mass market. :-( Yaoi is too niche to take big risks."

"We're" hurting the industry? Because we like to read good yaoi?

    Rrrriiiiight.

If you don't buy them or support the industry, with actual money, then yes, you're hurting it. At least those that continue to scanlate licensed titles are, because less people will buy them. They'd love to make more titles available, if only they had enough money to take risks and provide you more good yaoi. You can even support them by buying their titles digitally, because most of them are available that way, and they aren't region restricted at all. It's also cheaper than print editions. They give you a pdf and you can also read them with their online reader on their website.

    By Sublime:
"We have already tested this theory with scanlations. We’ve released unscanlated titles from unknown mangaka and compared those sales to popular titles from well-known mangaka that WERE scanlated, and you know what we found? The unscanlated titles sold better. We are also not the only publisher who has done this and proven it to be true."

"“Unless I've read a scanlation of it (or see it in the library/bookstore) I won't buy it.”
So I’m guessing you’ve never purchased a prose book without sitting down and reading the entire thing for free first, or paid for a meal at a fast food restaurant without eating it first? Yaoi isn’t a right, it’s a privilege, and this kind of thought process is called entitlement. I’m sure you’ve heard the whole “wants” versus “needs” argument before (I’ve definitely heard it from my parents growing up)."

You're just repeating yourself and I buy yaoi manga, so it doesn't apply to me anyway.

Cool. Most don't though, so I don't see how it would be bad for licensed mangas to be taken out from here. Licensed but scanlated online mangas sell less than licensed but unscanlated mangas, sadly.
