Yep. I don't understand how so many think that the rapist is sweet and devoted. He is a stalker who even knows Senpai's bathing habits. I had a boyfriend like that once and it was creepy. I ended up dumping his ass. I wish Mori had stopped when Senpai asked him to stop. By the way, I don't think not-boyfriend is abusive. Senpai has a dirty mouth but he's not a sociopath. He is very shy and don't always interact well with others. I like Challengers so much, but this one is so hard to swallow. I love Souichi though.
Senpai choked up an attitude because he needed to be strong for himself and his siblings since their parents were not around to care for them. He talked trash but he did not hurt anyone. He was raped and even forgave his rapist. If that is not kindness, what is? One thing I'm confused about this story is that this story is supposed to be romantic but it is not. It is very unromantic what with the forced sex. I'm not even sure if Senpai is gay or his self esteem is so low that he would do anything to be loved :-(
Oh gosh...there is so much more to this amazing story...where to begin? *Alert - spoilers ahead*
Firstly, Morinaga isn't a stalker. He never overstepped any boundaries during the 5 years that he was in unrequited love with Sempai. He was merely a good assistant and a loyal friend (see Challengers). What you have to understand is that Sempai was also in love with Morinaga during that whole time, but he was in complete and total denial of his true sexuality. Secondly, the rape in this story is actually dealt with in an honest way. When the rape occurred, rather than strengthening their love, it almost completely destroyed their relationship. Sempai was realistically angry, sickened, and damaged, as most true rape victims are. Morinaga felt so much remorse that he dropped out of school. This is not your typical rape yaoi. I dislike rape yaois where the rape is glossed over or even glorified because the uke falls in love with the seme *after* the rape. But this is not the case here. The rape did not make Sempai fall in love with Morinaga. It was the thought that Morinaga had disapeared for good that made Sempai realize he was in love with Morinaga. Finally, after the first volume, the sex in the rest of the volumes is consensual. This is a wonderful story of a self-loathing gay man who finally accepts his sexuality because of the amazing persistence of the one person who loves him. Very romantic, in my opinion.
Souichi is a violent piece of shit and I would never want him for a boyfriend. I woud kick him in the teeth and throw him out on the streets like the garbage he is. I absolutely adore Morinaga on the other hand, as a man so sweet and patient and kind he is exactly my type and he can be demanding all he likes with me in bed, I like dominant men devoted only to me. A man needs to take actual initiative to score with me. :3

OK, this post is not directed at me, but I like that you're respectful LS. I feel the same way you do, and that was why I continued to read the series. Although, like some of the others here, I wish Morinaga would stop when Sempai asked him to stop. However, I still love this series.

But Sempai *always* asks Morinaga to stop, which is really unfair. Morinaga was going to leave school and Sempai basically said "Don't go! I'll have sex with you, so please don't go!" But then every time Morinaga wants to have sex, Sempai refuses. Don't you see how that is totally unfair? In Volume 3, the two of them have an important discussion. Sempai basically admits that even though he wants to have sex, he objects each time because he can't seem to get past his morals and homophobia. Morinaga asks "What should I do when you always protest although you give in? I don't know if you really want it or maybe..." And Sempai says "But you ought to know!" So he is saying that Morinaga needs to be a mind reader! Somehow, Morinaga is supposed to know when Sempai wants sex even though he always says he doesn't. I think because of that discussion, from that point onward, Morinaga is totally justified in being pushy about sex. Sempai is in denial about his true feelings, and sometimes you have to force someone who is in denial.

I'm just glad somebody else had the nerve to state the fucking truth about this manga. Not gonna go through the replies coz I know some people will defend how this manga is romantic and shit and I've been through that. The only saving grace of this manga is the art. Story is disgusting. Ugh.
Basically, a story that is so over the top that no rational person could mistake it for RL. For people who enjoy following a totally unrealistic relationship that illogically but delightfully works. You should find something else to read that doesn't get your panties in a twist.
