I kind of feel like he did that for her. It looked like the police found out about what he did. But idk, kt was good for her too to be away from him. Their relationship was messed up.
I honestly think that they were both messed up. She was the one who constantly manipulated him and was one-sided until halfway through the manga. He never really cared about her and was depressing and uncaring in general.
Bruh what... people are so weird. He wasn’t uncaring. He expressed so many times his interest in her and asked if there was a possibility that she liked him back. She used him just like she was used and ended up falling for him when it was too late and he fell out of her manipulation. He was also going through a lot that she didn’t care about. Keep in mind they’re both kids who are broken and don’t know wtf they’re doing. You can’t blame him for not accepting her and you shouldn’t blame her either

In the end Koume was the real girl by the sea and Isobe got with the wrong girl and lost the best thing that happened to him. He should of stayed with Koume but nope that little bitch left Koume even after she confessed to him.
