Oh man! to be honest I can't with this manga anymore! I mean, the plot is super boring, first of all everybody wants to rape the uke, also he's warm hearted and weak enough to defeat his opponents... that's too ridiculous... he's not a girl, damn! I've had enough of this manga... I'm done.(╯°Д °)╯╧╧

Lol I'm super curious as to what manga you consider interesting if VF, one of the most liked and followed yaoi series, is boring to you. Please enlighten us.

Well... if u feel boring , just don't read it.... still lot of fan eager enough to read this manga..

Actually, I can completely understand where you're coming from. When I first began reading VF (years ago...), it was thrilling and interesting mainly because not only was it my first actual yaoi, as I'm sure it was for lots of people, it was kind of the first of its kind for me, an action+smut+possessiveness+underworld centric manga. Now that I'm older and I've read other yaoi mangas, I can see where VF may be lacking.

    1. Plot development: The basis of every story arc hasn't really changed. Some details have been added (Yay for the domesticity aspect that has been added to the recent chapter!), but VF hasn't really evolved as a manga. The arcs may differ but they feel similar because they begin and end the same: Takaba and Asami are just living, enter hot baddie, a tricky situation where Takaba is sexualized, Asami rescues him, Takaba runs from Asami or refuses to give into him as an attempt for "independence," and the cycle begins again. Most of their problems are external, which means that we don't get to see how their feelings are when they're not influenced by a bad situation or a love triangle. The story is very much plot-driven but the problem is that there hasn't been a new plot.

    2. Character development: I think the biggest character developments we have seen in years is Takaba being a little more aware of his emotional and sexual dependency on Asami and Asami being more vocal about his affections. But it's still the same as before: Takaba is still struggling to live an independent life (though he seems to get into damsel-in-distress situations way too often..) while being attracted to his polar opposite Asami. Asami is being the typical, possessive, silent, sexy seme. They do seem to have gotten closer recently, being all touchy-feely and even living together, but I feel like they seriously need to communicate. I know Takaba is all about being a serious, spirited young man but there are not a lot of instances where he is depicted as such: raped by Asami, kept as an interesting distraction, kidnapped and raped by Feilong, kidnapped and almost raped by the Russians, kidnapped again by a gazillion other side characters. Sure, he has his moments, when he has his camera but he practically is powerless in these situations. I'd like to see a smarter Takaba.

Character development and plot-wise; there are many other "big-name" mangas which have more depth such as Haru wo no Daite Ita, Ze, Close the Last Door, Junjou Romantica, Darling, Not Equal, etc.

I feel like VF is still memorable and popular because like I said before, it's a gateway yaoi manga for a lot of people (again, me included) and it has that successful yaoi formula that all thirsty girls love: a hot, possessive "bad man" seme, a spirited uke, underworld drama, fights over love, and of course hot sex.

I still enjoy VF but I can definitely see the problems of it.

lol. last chapter, I mean the one that released on December might be a lil bit boring, for Vf STANDARD. But today's chapter definitely great. I'm 100% sure nobody thought that a bunch of bastards attacked Asami's penthouse. Including me.

I stopped reading yaoi months a go, since I'm bored with boring story (since I read Doujinshis and fanfics nowadays.lol). But I can't leave Vf.....

Actually, I started off reading many yaoi mangas (including the ones you have listed) before I stumbled upon viewfinder. To generalize it as a gateway manga and speak for others... well that's quite subjective from one individual to another. So I would like to say, Viewfinder is definitely MY favourite, end.

you make it sound like many yaoi mangas out there don't have similar plots and storyline, if you're done with the manga, maybe you should take it elsewhere, there's many mangas I hate, I'm not on their forum bashing the manga, get a grip. If you're done with the manga, then be done with it -

My gateway title was haru wo daite but now I can't even read one chapter without getting bored to tears. Nostalgia could never have held me for this long to one series if I didn't actually enjoy the plot and characters so please don't generalize the whole community based on your own experience. There are thousands of manga out there with the 'successful yaoi formula that all thirsty girls love' so why have only a few select titles managed to rise to the top and why is VF one of them?

I don't know about the other ones, but I very much have to disagree with Junjou having more character development than this. It was my gateway yaoi and I still love it to bits, but the fact that the main couple has been together for four years and Misaki still has trouble saying "I love you" out loud and is still embarrassed with sex is a bit ridiculous.

Well, here is a short list:
    *Haruwo Daite ita,
    *Koisuru boukun,
    *Seven days (shonen ai),
*Totally captivated (Korean Manhwa, actually a gangster manhwa),
*Hua hua you long (incomplete but the novel is already finished),
I also love Junjou romantica although I don't consider it as a masterpiece or anything, but at least it has more deep feelings between the couple than this.
    Just give them a try.

Damn it! you get me perfectly, you even described it better than I did, you enlisted everything I don't like about this manga, I couldn't agree more, but unlike you I can't carry on reading it, I'm just fed up with those kind of stories, the more mangas I read the more picky I become LOL

Well ... I haven't even read the latest chapters... as I wrote above I just can't continue reading it... maybe in a far far away future xD

    Read them, they were alright.
I guess you just don't like that in VF they express their feelings like, not through words but actions? That's one of the reasons why I love it so much <3

Yep, I'm done with it... I just felt free to give my opinion and I don't see any problem with it... don't get me wrong, if you like it then it's fine, you are free to like whatever you please... and the same goes for me... this is a forum and we can express ourselves... I'm not trying to offend anyone, it's a mere opinion ;)

Umm...if you dislike it that much, then why are you reading/and or commenting on it? Just curious. Personally if I don't like a manga, I just close the page and move on. Instead, it looks like you are trying to get fans to start a fight with you, and that is not kosher.

    "Now that I'm older"
"have more depth such as Junjou Romantica"
I couldn't take that post seriously no matter how hard I tried, so I sadly can't understand you ^^
Anyway, she listed stuff that I liked about it or didn't mind, so...
