I'm not sure about it, but my guess is that the supposed woman who brought the man's body in the end was a spirit that saw the affection they shared, and since it was a war time at his land, he ended up being killed. The journalist couldn't contact him or possibly know how the guy was doing, so after being killed, the spirit appeared in front of the journalist with the dead man's body so he would be aware of he's death.

Guy A was a photographer and Guy B's country was in war. Guy A fell in love with Guy B at first sight and soon found out that they were both similar in that both their lovers died before them. Then they discussed about the Ifrit (which I am guess is a fairy of some sort that grant you wishes) and Guy A want Guy B to fall in love with him but Guy B sworn to never love anyone else again. So Guy A wished to at least have Guy B's soul. The Ifrit heard that. So when the country was getting to dangerous to stay in Guy A had to leave. In the end, the author show u that Guy B died and the Ifrit brought Guy B's soul to Guy A is what I got from the story. Yea... I hope that helped

I'm guessing that because it was the kinder version of the Ifrītah that "delivered the soul" that the man died naturally, rather than being martyred in war.
