Now that I've fully caught up I can say souichi definitely makes this manga for me. Maybe I just have more tolerance for the tsundere types and enjoy reading between the lines but yeah.
He's not annoying at all. Without him there would be no manga. He's the star of the show. He gives in to Mori ever time, but it takes some work because he's shy and stubborn at the time. The problem is despite Morinaga saying it's okay or being happy with what he has, he never does appreciate the fact that it's hard on senpai for various reasons. So he always wants me. not that he shouldn't wish for more, but he doesn't appreciate what he has at all. Morinaga is caring, but also somewhat self centered tbh.

I'm probably in the minority and will incur fangirl wrath for saying this but I dont find Souichi annoying at all. He's actually my favorite character in this manga. His anger towards their first time was justified. No matter how much of a jerk or homophobe someone is they dont deserve that. The rest yeah I agree its pretty much denial and tsundere shenanigans but its not like he doesn't give Morinaga an opening. He even says at one point "try next week." Considering the way their relationship started and his phobia Morinaga is lucky he's even giving him the time of day. I haven't gotten farther so I dont know if he gets worse but so far he doesn't seem as bad as people say and he even stands up for him. True his homophobia is not a good thing true but Morinaga isn't an innocent babe either. Just adding a balance to all the Souichi hate.
