The shit are you talking about, it's Usagi that's mellowing out because Misaki is too braindead to live. He's tormenting himself because of him and that's why I want to beat up Misaki. I'm a girl and I'm the one who would be the yandere to Usagi.
Actually I also feel Usagi is getting much more edgy lately, I think it's good character development for the story though, I am really hoping Misaki will comfort him properly and confess (to his brother)

He's like that because no one gives him the chance to make his own decisions. He's always been the little bro that needs looking after or the pampered lover. Take Takano for instance, he actually wants Ritsu to thrive and I love how they both feed off each other. Looking back on Usagi and Ritsu's relationship...I don't think they've found what works best for them yet and it's so frustrating. I want them to be able to move forward without taking a step back every. single. time.
He's a people pleaser (except when it comes to usagi). Until I see some real action he's all talk.

Being possessive or yandere-ish to your lover maybe lovable in anime, but in real life relationships it's really WRONG. Nobody would want a controlling lover who tells them on what to do all over the time and doesn't even want to listen to them, if it's A then it's A while if it's B then it's B. Who's going to like it if their lover locked them up forever so that they wouldn't see and love anything else other than their lover?
To be honest, I'm one of the people who used to love usagi's possessiveness over misaki but as I grew up, being matured more and got to understand about relationships in real life, I no longer like that part of him. This is one of the reasons on why you shouldn't view the world through anime and manga for the most part.
I'm feeling bad for Misaki. Yeah, he truly loves Usagi and happy with him but his characters development is kinda horrifying because now he's mellowing himself to usagi's possessiveness and it's clearly hinted that he wouldn't able to survive without that side of usagi. Arguably, Misaki is a masochist from start.
I still love usagi despite his flaws.
