almost all yaois mangas have side stories with other couples. the only difference is that in jr that side couples become as popular as the main one. then they got more chapters as a request of the readers.

many of the story arcs that she uses are also common places in yaoi mangas but i don't think those are randomly chosen.
But i do think she use the love rival arc too much maybe.
