I think they expect Asami to be with an actress or someone high profile. When Asami shows an interest i what they see as a nobody, they assume it is about sex.

I always wonder why he does not correct them.

My question is have you actually read this manga? They pretty much tell you why they think of him that way. He's from a different class. Asami has picked up other such "pets" in the past. Not to mention, he is considerably younger than Asami. Also keep in mind that Sudou is jealous of Akihito and it suits him to think of Akihito in lesser terms than as Asami's lover.

I'm not sure Asami actually had "pets"--I think maybe just "men like Asami" often have pets. I don't think Asami is virginal, just that he isn't the pet keeping type.

But you are correct about the age and class angle. I think Sudou cares about class, but the others think he is fluff just because he is cute and does not appear to have much else going for him (until you get to know him). Often rich man + hot but empty-headed young guy = boy toy.

I think Sakazaki may be the only one who thinks of Akihito as Asami's pet. When Sakazaki uses the term toward Akihito, he's merely repeating a rumor he's heard whispered in the streets.

In Fei Long's case-- it's part of his denial. Since Asami has shown no romantic interest in him, he wants to believe it's because Asami is incapable of such an emotion. Akihito is proof otherwise. Deep down, Fei Long knows that Akihito means something to Asami, but he flings the term "pet" around to pretend he disregards such a notion.

Sudou is also painfully aware that Akihito means something to Asami, but he is overcome by sheer jealously, so he uses it as a slur to hurt Akihito and weaken his confidence.

I highly suspect this cute Hong Kong cop was a "pet".

I'm merely voicing an opinion, but WHY I think this is because besides having sex with the young detective (which is heavily implied between the following conversation between Asami and Fei Long), Asami is having him "pull strings" for him with the Hong Kong police... which the cop is very willing to do. He is Asami's "pet cop"... with, of course, Asami being the master.

And of course he has a crush on Asami. Who wouldn't?

I think it's just a quiet place to talk. Also it's where Sudou was because he was pimping out Mayu/Aya/whoever to the corrupt politician, Sudou may simply have been there, and Asami went to confront him.

I don't think Asami is cheating on Aki. I also don't think Sudou would be his type if he did. Sudou is too clingy and weepy.

Ofcourse you can interpret it that way if you want to--but I will say that I think Asami has many minions, and many people are loyal to him. I don;t think he has sex with all of them. I don't even think he did Karishima.

It's truly bad idea to have sex with your employees, so I doubt he'd do that... especially with someone like Kirishima, or with any other "minion" that could potentially cause a problems in the future (*coughFeiLongcough*), so that eliminates quite a few people, but then again, who's to say what Asami might or might not do?

However the Hong Kong cop? I think Asami found a cute little piece... and an opportunity. ;)
