I'm not sure I am the right person for that. I have seen some of J Unleashed's funny bits on An Archive of Our Own, but I didn't get into the serious fanfic there. I'm oddly picky, and I dislike fan favorites such as mpreg (I don't even like stories where women get pregnant).
Does anyone else have recs?
I'm not interested in mpreg of Aki and Asami..just a fanfic where they both stay in character with a good story and some smex!!
@INeedYaoiToSurvive: Most likely until February. Yamane takes pretty long breaks between volumes, so I wouldn't hold my breath on getting an update this year.
As for fic recs...eprime and ptw30 write really in character Asami/Akihito; they're no longer active in the fandom, but the bulk of what they've written so far is pretty impressive. Udunie is another really good author...Sunflower1343...but some of her fics are not for public viewing...you can find all of them on LiveJournal.

Try works on AO3 by setsuna24, ashida, lexus520 and if you like kink and don't mind threesomes - charis2770. There is also a pretty good (long and unfinished at the moment) story by Kadzuki_Fuchoin. On LJ there is also a great story called Heat by dmnutv_archer. (some chapters are locked unless you are friended by her, but the story is great even without the chapters.

There is a fairly recent update - this summer - but she is dealing with the severe illness of her father, so she has put the remaining chapters on hiatus (at least that was her last message to her readers)
