I think so too. (1) He is considered an "abnormal" of the species with none of the usual vampire instincts. but most importantly (2) The poison is made from Eric's pheromones. And we know what happens when Shell is exposed to Eric's pheromones. And being a blood thirsty feral isn't it.

My understanding is different. The red death is made of pain and fear from Cinderella and the other vampires Jack tortured and killed in his "secret chamber". Eric was not tortured but given some sort of aphrodisiac. If you look in ch 55 Jack say he would have ended up like the other's if he had not got Eric's blood. Eric is the cure, and I think even the source of the "perfume" Shell and Reign just relised.
How Shell will reaced to this essence of "the Red death-drug" is unclear. We do not know how Eric can use his pheromones to save him from that.

Maybe so, but the pheromones deal with instinct itself, and have very little to do with the mindset of a person. But, who knows?
