Overall, interesting plot. While their relationship is unhealthy, nowhere does it say that it's healthy. It's from the viewpoint from someone who is sick, and while I dislike the use of the word for mental health issues, it seems appropriate for this case. Cole isn't well, and from his viewpoint, a drastic decision like using a gun might seem like the only option. Should Alex abandon him for being ill? that's up to Alex. He could get him help instead, and find a better outlet for Cole's clearly pent up emotions that he has a hard time expressing.

And the whole who gets to be an Eve and who gets to be an Adam thing is completely beyond me. I don't understand how they're chosen. Is it body shape? tests taken as a child? Intelligence? I don't get it. It was ok.
I believe it was decided mainly by choice like the situation with Erika and how she was an "adam" in the beginning but then decided to become an "Eve" because she actually wanted to be that for Sakura. She never met anyone before that, that made her feel like she wanted to be an "Eve."
