Do you rate the mangas that you add to your list? If so, what is your thought process?

For me, most of my mangas are 3-stars. I've never given anything 1 star before... but I've come close. Probably because if I really don't like them, I don't want to bother with adding them to my list.

So this is how my process goes.

1- N/A (not even worth evaluating)

2- Some potential, but overall dull and cliche.

3- A bit cliche, but cute. Art is decent.

4- Will definitely reread again and again! Either in need of more chapters or more sex, but a great work of art one way or another. This is where I put great doujinshis sometimes.

5- Usually manhwas/shonen mangas fit into this category. Pretty much everything that I'm looking for depending on the genre; sex, action, art, plot.

    1-terrible

2- also terrible/just bad, but I was in an okay mood (my most common rating :')

    3- okay/good

4- as good as it gets/great (only my favorites get this rating)

5- unnatainable (perfect stories don't exist)

  • Lelee October 11, 2017 9:05 pm

Yeah we think the same way. I usually give three, four or five stars. Three are just like, okay it was nice. Four are those I liked and will reread. Five are those I will definitely remember and reread lot's of times.

I have some kind of point list (or stars)
    for ok - 0 / good +1, great+2/ bad-1, worst -2
I 'evaluate' art/drawing, plot or storyline, the story itself, characters, also the genre (you can't compare bi no isu with jappa no amane) thats how I do it :)

Honestly I don’t even rate sometimes I do if I really like the story but I always forget x

  • Lynn October 11, 2017 10:06 pm

I've never given anything below a 3 star because once I start reading something, I'm usually determined to read it to the end. Only times I drop a manga is because I've found something more interesting to read and not because I hated it.

Anyways, my 3-5 star ratings go like this:

3- Meh, not as interesting as I thought it was or the ending could have been done better but not terrible overall. I don't hate it.

4- I like this and enjoyed reading it. Would I read it again? Maybe. Might recommend this to others. (Most of my ratings fall into this)

5- I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!! 10/10 WILL REREAD AGAIN AND AGAIN! WILL RECOMMEND THIS!

  • Nijole
    October 11, 2017 10:26 pm

I mark everything I ever read as 'read' so I don't accidentally read boring ones twice.
Mangas that I think are worth re-reading I tag with what it's about.
I only use the star system with mangas I absolutely love or truly hate, which I give five stars and one star respectively.
I've only used the stars about six times altogether.

  • Noisymura
    October 11, 2017 10:40 pm

    For me it's :

1- I dislked it really badly, even hated it. Wish I could forget about it.

    2- Disappointed

    3- Ok, but wouldn't re-read it

4- Liked it/ Loved it (I think most of the things I read are rated this, since I'm picky and look at the comments/convos/tags before starting) - On my re-read list.

5- Fav ! Loved it ! I can read them again and again.

No stars : When I'm confused about wether or not I liked it and can't decide on a rating, so I put nothing until the time I have the courage to read them again and maybe make a choice.

  • Anonymous October 12, 2017 10:29 am

0 - I don't left it blank because I would confuse myself for forgetting to rate it.

1 - Shitty and not worth my time. I would rate minus or throw it away

2 - Almost shitty, but can improve.

    3 - Average. Easily forgotten.

4 - I liked it but would likely not read it again. I had fun and enjoy reading it.

5 - Favourite. I could read again and recommend without hesitation.

My list: Definitely will read again. Personal favourite and have a soft spot in my kokoro.

Do you guys ever have dreams that make you question your existence/sanity when you wake up? I had a dream like that last night. To summarize, I was seeing things from the perspective of [um, maybe don't read this if you cherish your innocence] a short lesbian attempting to peg a tall, beautiful blond woman. But honestly, it isn't the weirdest dream I've ever had.

I should also mention that dreaming about sex isn't super uncommon for me... considering the amount of time I spend on this godless site. But it is always a bit disappointing when the context is strange. I'd prefer to dream about normal things for once, though.

Also, does anyone else feel sensations in their sleep? Pain for example. For me, I can feel it when I'm hurt, and I can taste, smell and hear things almost as vividly as I can in real life... Yeah, that has its pros and cons.

Dreams are fascinating. I love and hate them, because they're so abstract but they are like personalized/interactive movies in a way. I really should chill out with the weird things I read, but...

To be fair, I started experiencing these vivid dreams at a very young age. It could just be a product of a hyperactive imagination. I'm also prone to sleep paralysis moreso than what is probably natural, so that can't help.

As for the pain, I have experienced being shot in my dreams and it manifested in a dull burning sensation in my chest that more or less disappeared when I woke up, though I could still remember it. But the pain is generally concentrated around my wrists and arms. I have experienced the sensation of "dying" at some point... via some sort of disease that my subconscious never specified. Though, thankfully, I have yet to be butchered.

A dream analysis expert can help you if you want to know more about what your dreams signify. Sleep paralysis does not have an authenticated treatment but it seems that your sleep paralysis is not that severe so it's ok. I had experienced sleep paralysis when I was young and many of my friends said that supernatural elements might be the cause but I don't usually believe in hocus pocus so no. All the best and I hope you have REM dreams, instead of alpha or beta ones ;)

I think it's normal. Once, I dreamt I was giving chaste kisses in my friend and when I woke up I felt very guilty because he has a girlfriend (and he is just my friend). Nothing happened between us and honestly, I don't desire him, we get along very well, but we are just friends, you know.
Well, I rambling here, what I want to say is that dreams are not just what you desire (I mean, people have nightmares, right?), it's just what you see and think in your day and sometimes is nonsense. If you don't feel attraction for real woman, you are not lesbian/bi.

  • alinmango October 7, 2017 9:17 am

Right, I think that sometimes we are capable of seeing our subconscious desires in our dreams but other times, it is probably just a lot of mind scribble being translated into visuals.

Like someone spinning a wheel in your brain to decide what you're going to think about while you're asleep. *spins once* Okay, we will use character A: [mr. friend] and character B [you] in this setting *spins once more* [school] doing this activity *spins one last time* [kissing]. Great, role clip!

How many of you would agree to a poly-amorous relationship? I have thought about it and I am having a hard time deciding whether it would be fun or too troublesome to deal with. Well, I guess it's different depending on how serious you would want the relationship to be.

What do you think?

I don't wish to have one but I think it depends on each of us and what needs we wish to satisfy with our partner.
For example I am very contented with my relationship. Feeling safe in a relationship is a miracle. For example I fall asleep in less then 5 minutes when my husband is home. There is some magic going on

I just believe in true love and all that soul m...(stops myself) I know I know, I'm a hopeless romantic but I'm okay with whatever people are happy with 'Whatver floats your boat' I guess. But in such a relationship it will be quite hard to balance your love iykwim *takes out my measuring scale, let me see* 50% love for Mako, 25% love for Eren and 100% love for Levi , hmmm well that wasn't quite right...hmmm(⊙…⊙ )????* Whereas in a monogamous relationship you can give all of your love to only one person. That's just the way I perceive but I'm not against any type of relationship or anything I just prefer monogamy that's all and like I said before whatever makes you happy or 'floats your boat' (๑•ㅂ•)و✧

  • Anonymous September 20, 2017 9:15 pm

I can see how balance in such a relationship would be difficult. And I tend to have an inferiority complex, so that wouldn't help me much... But I suppose it would be dependent, in this hypothetical situation, on how much love my partners would be willing to give me. There are people who feel unloved in monogamous relationships and people who feel showered with love in relationships with 7 other people. Strange, isn't it? I guess it's just circumstantial.

Oh, and I fully support your hopeless romanticism. The world would be better off with more romantics.

Personally, I am not dating anyone right now. I was recently hanging out with my lady friend and her boyfriend, however, and she enjoys being inclusive of me. So she'll encourage both of us to do things like hold her hand and kiss her cheek at the same time and what not; she doesn't mean it beyond that, but it did remind me of some of the poly relationships I've heard people describe. So I just got curious.

Also, I agree. In every relationship, rules and boundaries are important; especially in relationships pertaining to more than one person. So that's a good standard to have.

Oddly enough, I get incredibly possessive of the people I'm attached to. I can see how that would be a problem, but I've never gave it much thought as to whether I'd get possessive if those who were involved were two people that I individually loved very much. I guess that's the sort of question that can only be answered by experience.

  • Anonymous September 20, 2017 11:19 pm

Not personally. Relationship are works, and I don't find myself desire to invest one. My preferred state is one of being alone. Having more than one relationship means it will requires more of my time, effort and commitment. That's a lot of work than if I initially had one. I am not that selfless. So, no, it wouldn't work for me at all.

Then again, I wouldn't against anyone with polyamory.

  • Anonymous September 20, 2017 11:36 pm

I don't against it but personally, I find it's awkward. Maybe because i'm a jealous type so I don't want to be in relationship where my partner is in love with another person. But it depends tho, as long as everyone is alright with it then it's okay.

Are there any good shoujo mangas out there in which the protagonists have really good compatibility? Like the kind of couple you see and think "They were made for each other." I don't usually read shoujo, but I'm interested just to take a peek.

Oh, if there are any yaoi/shonen ai mangas with the same premise... Don't hesitate to recommend.

I would definitely do that, but for the particular show I'm using, the subtitles (for some reason) seem to cover a bit too much of the video than I am comfortable with. This trick definitely works on some shows, though, so I'll keep that in mind when I don't want to go through the trouble of tracking down a torrent.
