I find it so weird that Chinese BLS are usually soooooooo high quality. Like the art is insane and the plot is usually deep, meaningful, and all-around beautiful. While straight Chinese romances are often a copy paste of each other that has the exact same plot which is usually CEO x normal girl which later on has a female side character that wants to steal the guy away or a rich relative that wants to ruin the girl mc. Then they repeat for a hundred chapters or so until they conclude with an abrupt ending. Why is this... its weird cause china is known for its bl censorship yet most of the BLs that come out of that country are so beautiful (even the novels) while the straight romances are often,,,.. idk.. i'd like to know your opinion on this!
Of course, I don't mean ALL Chinese BLS are god-tier but there's a lot of good ones that's been coming out lately it's crazy. I also don't mean that there's no straight Chinese romance thats good, ofc there are. You get what I mean,,

I have been wanting more fluff than smut recently and bl manhuas are usually my go to because there is a lot of fluff, the stories are well made, and the art is drop-dead gorgeous. I totally agree with you because I have tried reading some chinese romance, but I just can't get into them because the female lead is always so perfect.
Same! Before, I’ve always dreaded if a bl is shounen ai thats why i avoided chinese bl due to their common censorship but now i crave for the plots of chinese bl, especially the historical ones! Soo good!
