I am biased because it's one of my fav animes ever so...
I mean, the live action did what it could in the allowed time frame tbh. Surprisingly was able to thread the main events together and the effects are pretty ok. Main guy is cute.
But....
So many stuff left out. Sometimes it felt kind of rushed... the ending is not really an ending... I would not watch again.

Still, WAY better than death note. That atrocity still makes me shiver...

Oh yes, Death Note was bad, but the US version was atrocious ... I had to quit partway through.
My bias may be worse - I was expecting Ed to be cast true to age at the very least (a 25 yr old can play 18, but not 15 LOL), and no Major Armstrong? No Izumi ... sobs

Well. our weather over the next few days will be colder than Antarctica, Mt. Everest AND Mars. LOL -20C is t-shirt weather compared to -46C - our low for tonight (if you throw a pot of boiling water into the air, it freezes instantly! But we have had our heat waves with +35 too - and heat rash - think I would rather be cold!

Aaah I really want to see this. Boiling water turning into ice.... Yeah heat rashes are pretty annoying but not a lot of people suffer this. We're quite adjusted to our temperature. But the foreigners and people who use AC suffer it continuously!

Most semi-mainstream stuff is voiced by the same smallish set of voice actors. Not really surprising.

I am used to watching subs not dubs - and Allen is Ling (both are always hungry!)

I prefer a well-done dub over a sub any day. If you can't understand more than a few words and phrases in a language, you can't appreciate the voice acting of the original language edition, so might as well watch the dubs if available.

If you go on imdb and look at various shows, you'll see mostly the same names over and over.

Or that Soul Eater Evans and Yuri Plisetsky have the same English voice actor.

True enough, but if I close my eyes, Ling and Roy fighting is a little odd. I don't mind subs, I watch a lot of foreign movies, you learn to listen to tone of voice.

I could see that about FMAB. I do watch some foreign films, but I still find for myself that I enjoy them less if it's a language I can't grasp much of. I prefer things in the couple of languages I'm fluent or at least ok in.

i'm glad it doesn't snow down here in florida, i would freeze to death.

As for Gintama, I was about as thrilled reading that as I was Naruto (so kind of meh) but maybe I need to give it a second chance.

Ohh I'm more south it's hot af still. Gintama is so good, it starts off really slow because they had a different writer I think. But now as years go by it gets better and better.

it's best not to really have expectation story-wise on a manga that is just for-laughs. that's also an advice i gave on my list. maybe that will make it easier for you to read gintama.
btw if you're into raunchy, read number 81 from my list first
