I think the reason past WWX went down is more to do with the Stygian Tiger Seal. The seal took over/influenced his mind in several cases before.

It's not the path that affects the heart and body directly, but there is a sense of instability when using it, and it can cause damage based on negative feelings alone. Hence why WWX lost control when he was at his lowest in life. Whereas, if it was righteous cultivation, he wouldn't have slipped up like that. With the way WWX's life spiraled downwards, he made grave slip-ups because he demonic cultivates. In the present however, he doesn't need to worry about that since he is currently very stable as LWJ provides him the support he needs as the single plank bridge that he walks on is no longer lonely.

it's more to do with the situations surrounding him, rather than the negative impact of the Stygian Tiger Seal. He had to live with the Wen survivors in a burial ground. He had so less to eat, most of the time he had to starve himself, he had no money for medicine or for the other survivors, cultivators were constantly trying to kill him. His own people misunderstood and betrayed him, i mean anyone else would have died earlier. He had such a sad story to be honest.

Probably yes if he goes through such situations again. But ofc nothing like that would happen again because he's got Lan Zhan now(๑•ㅂ•)و✧

You should read the book. Basically when WuXian cultivates he had to have absolute control over the corpses and their resentful energy in order to make them do what he wanted. Without control they would just savagely attack everyone. In times of high stress and heartbreak (read the novel) his emotions got the best of him and WuXian lost control of all the resentful energy he was chaneling which led to the 2 most gut wrenching events in his adult life and everything spiralled from there ultimately leading to the siege that ended up killing him. Demonic cultivation is dangerous primarily because (imo) you have to have that unshakable control and WuXian though gifted was just as human as everyone else. Once reincarnated he doesnt cultivate the way he used to or at the magnitude that he used to (commanding corpse armies etc) and there are no horrific emotional events to cause him to lose control. He leans a lot on WangJi and *spoiler/not really* the author said in an interview that in the future, post novel, WangJi will help him train and strengthen his spiritual core so that WuXian will be able to cultivate normally again. <That made me so damn happy especially knowing exactly what happened that made him chose the demonic path. No spoilers but I highly recommend everyone read the novel. It's so much more. More descriptive, more complex, more detailed, more romance, more profound and more sexiness too XD

I've read the novel and currently I am rereading it. Their stories were so beautiful, it made my heart hurts so much. I just don't fully understand about how is the present WWX fine and how is his personality doesn't change at all? When his past self first met JC and LWJ again after he mastered the demonic path, somehow you could feel his personality change a bit and it became worse as time goes by (he was unstable emotionally). But I realized after I read your and the other's explanation, maybe actually the present him is still unstable but because LWJ is here with him so everything is okay. With LWJ here his days is full of happiness ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ

Lol WangJi <3 honestly I think the resentful energy magnifies negative energy and bc Wuxian was always using it in the past perhaps he was influenced by it since you see he becomes colder and crueler but he never lost control of it until he was under serious emotional stress which by that point the resentful energy then fed into and magnified all the negative emotions he was feeling basically compounding the problem. Like what they say in the novel the demonic way is bad for the body and the mind. I think hes fine now bc hes not constantly surrounded by resentful energy and he doesnt have to rely solely on it since he can rely on WangJi instead. I think its complicated to answer your question but I hope I made sense lol I'm glad you read the novel I'm rereading it too lol just about to go through the Yi city arc again.....*sobs* ugh

Also I think his personality change was greatly affected by the way everything in his life was spiraling downwards one thing after another causing him sadness/anger/grief/loneliness then constantly chanelling resentful energy that was just magnifying all those feelings in addition to how shitty his life was. I mean the "entire" world hated, misunderstood and judged him on top of all the hell he went through I mean everything he ever loved was ripped away from him. So yea like I said I think its complicated to answer your question properly hes fine now bc hes no longer in the situations of his past. Imo cultivating the demonic path is a sharp and dangerous double edged sword cutting the user mentally and emotionally just as it cuts the victim physically. And if he cultivated the same way again he would suffer again bc of the negative energy influencing his own mind and heart.

But MXTX said in an interview that in this new body WWX will be able to form a core in MXY's body with the help of LWJ. The audio drama is one of the adaptions that i would highly recommend. So right after the original source, the novel, i would recommend audio drama (for vocal nuances) or manhua (for visuals if you need that). Audio drama has some short extras in between, and they are either an extension to what has been said briefly in the novel, or small extras that MXTX posted on her weibo that the audio drama team took note of to slot somewhere in the production.

So it's kinda complicated but if you go to suibiansubs on tumblr and just kinda follow all the info you should end up on their discord then you have to download an app to download the video files then another app to extract them then everything plays on ur phone through your default video player. Took me 10 minutes to do everything but it's not actually hard.
