For people saying the story feels incomplete or are very unsatisfied with there not being much story, hopefully we will get a season 2 because there is a lot more to be uncovered. Like Ginger's hybridness, Daddy Angel, the prophecy dude, etc...

I understand Japan has different norms and they value appearance and formality and such but... why does it seem parents are afraid to find out the truth about things? I don't want to say "all japanese parents are this and that-" but I find in a lot of Japanese media (manga, anime, books, movies) that parents seem to value society's view of their kids, instead of actually helping their kids. I think this can apply to alot of Asian countries, as well.

I think it's because it's really hard to find a well off job in society. A bad past could come back to haunt someone (I found this especially true for kpop idols). Another thing is that parents don't want to "lose face" aka reputation. This can apply to my family (in the US). Like if I go out partying and doing drugs and other parents find out, my parents would "lose face" in our community. Lol as if I would take the energy away from yaoi to do those things.

  • Anonymous March 23, 2017 3:49 am

I think many parents are "well meaning" because society is the one that will determine their child's future. It is already hard for well raised children to find employment for instance, it is doubly hard for one with criminal convictions etc.

In the past, even we used to be warned off tattoos. "Oh my god, if you must, get it in places that don't show" (Maybe like butt crack tattoo?, on the soles of your feet, if you must!) The big payers won't hire you, they say. I mean even the local deli don't really want to hire one with a visible tattoo gender not withstanding).

In countries where families are still big units, the bad behavior of one person have far reaching impact outside the immediate family, so that's where the "losing face" comes into play. For isntance, oh I can't employ you because you're that man's nephew/niece aren't you? the one that jumped off a building due to corruption etc.

The same for families of a dissident for instance.

In the west, we're getting better at not punishing children of their parent's faults, but as you can see, there are still many who do and it is even more amplified in asian countries where filial and familial connections are still part of the societal fabric in general.

Of course filial and familial connections (that is, having connections to the larger extended family) is not always a bad thing, but it does come with a huge responsibility which looks absurd to us.

But again in the west, it hasn't been that long since we hold the same values (or at least our elders do).

  • shiitakeroom March 23, 2017 4:02 am

this happaned in Indonesia too. Many parents doesnt report to the police even after knowing their kid being raped or assaulted for the sake of shame and honour. they rather pretend it didnt happened. and if you visit some psychiatrist, people would think you have schizophrenia or mentall ilness so things like therapy isnt really popular here.

I like how they decreased the quality of the manga. Those who can't pay can still read it but those who pay get to see a cleaner and higher definition of the art. I think this is more fair. Thanks for supporting the artist!

I hate you raw readers. Gotta have us faithful english readers getting hyped the fuck up for a chapter that we won't see until next month. ( T﹏T ) Like bruh. Then I have to live in a state of ANXIOUSNESS until that chapter comes out. Fuck! I don't wanna wait 5 weeks for chapter 32! Dammit.

Seme Logic. I want to fuck him so badly that i need to make up an excuse to fuck him. Because being honest doesn't work on our partner. Will at least he is playing it out quite perfectly, "Came to fast, not honest, cold fish in bed" sounds quite believable if you are to naive. lol I prefer this flawed logic, than the idiot seme who told his uke "that he'll make him straight by having sex with him." How does that even work? You'll make him more gay with gay sex...

Alright, I just finished reading this. I don't really understand why there is so much fuss going on. This is normally a manga I'd quit after the first chapter and then...MOVE ON. I understand people don't like rape but after chapter one, its pretty obvious what the manga would be about. If you decide to continue it...then that's kind of on you? Plus there's the tag so... I hate to be the one to say "don't like it don't read it" but this manga is very easily avoidable. The rape didn't happen out of no where, it STARTED off with rape, so if rape isn't a element you like, it could've easily been avoided

I really hate the "if you don't like it, don't read it" argument. Sometimes it's not that simple. There's people with rape fantasies who love all manga rape and there's people who hate all manga rape. The tags help those types of people. Then there's people like me who are indifferent and don't know if they'll like the manga or not until they actually read it. Some manga utilize rape better than others. I gave the manga a chance and it wasn't until chapter 4 when I decided it wasn't for me.

I understand some people won't know if they like it until they read it (I am the same way) and I also am indifferent to rape. I just don't understand the World War 3 going on in the comments. Why is THIS particular story getting people so heated? It's just a simple (dare I say "bland") manga. You can say you don't like something for whatever reason. And if you reach chapter 4 and decide its not for you then that's OK. Just don't bash others for liking it (not telling this to you personally, just in general). People are name-calling and giving shit to others for having different opinions and it's unnecessary.

I agree with you there, some don't know how to give opinions without attacking others or taking it personally. Not bashing anyone but it seems that someone always throws a "if you don't like it, don't read it" at everyone who has a negative opinion on a manga. Sorry it just irritates me so much because sometimes, even though I don't like it, I do want to have an actual conversation about the manga. ( ̄へ ̄)

100% with you. Seems like you can't even critique something without someone wanting to burn you at the stake for your opinion. I personally do hate the "if you don't like dont read" because it just negates any kind of critique one may have. I was speaking more from a point of "If all you can do is bash others on their tastes, its better if you don't read it" y'know what I mean?
Btw, I didn't like the manga because the seme is so creepy to me haha. I don't like super bubbly characters. Plus he didn't seem to take the uke's feelings into consideration like at all. Even in rapey mangas the seme somewhat knows the uke's feelings or something. This seme was just like "long hair don't care, rape-fuck don't give a fuck"

His lack of consideration is one of the reasons. I didn't like it because they don't know each other but uke is like "he raped me a few times so now I love him". Couldn't they have at least been long, lost childhood friends or something? I don't even know why the two are in love.

Exaaactly. Like i swear sometimes mangakas confuse orgasms for signs of love lol. If they were lost childhood friends that would make it soo much better. Especially since childhood friends is one of my top favorite tropes. My thing is, how can you love him just because he raped you? That means you could've fell for any dude who stuck his dick in you, which dismisses real love (in my humble opinion). Plus the seme is a sex addict so how do you even know his true feelings? Atleast until they have that trope where a rival comes along but the seme turns them down b/c they love their original uke lol

Isn't that always the problem when someone doesn't like something? In my opinion love only because of sex is a superficial reason and not something I'd consider "romance". The rape trope is also overused in yaoi. If the manga is gonna be cliche it might as well throw in the others as well. A lot of people love tropes ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

Yes you can fall in love after sex. But if the relationships is JUST sex. That is not love. Which is the problem I have. In most mangas, the uke and seme bond over other things after having sex that make them realize their feelings. That did not happen here. do you know the definition of criticism? lol I'm having a discussion on what I found wrong or didn't like about it. No is name-calling and no one said anything about people liking the manga, or did you just pull that from a place where the sun don't shine? I love manga that others don't and when they say what they dislike about it, I don't get mad or defensive. I try and understand the viewpoint they are coming from.
