He does love her. Because of his arrogance, it comes of as he doesn't and it is just her that is in love. But there are moments that you can feel his love for her. He does not get jealous because his arrogance gives him the confidence it believe she will not falter. Just because it is subtle, doesn't mean his love is not there.
