The art in the beginning isn't that great but it gets very good quickly. The story and characters (main and side characters) are well developed. The story follows the main characters through their whole time in high school and a bit beyond. It is one I have often reread. There is also a shorter sequel.

With a number of timeskips, this manga follows the life of the 2 main characters from childhood to old age, looking at how their relationship drifts apart and comes together over that time. A really beautiful and realistic story. Warning! the first chapter is a bit iffy with some shotacon, but plays an integral part in the main characters questioning their sexuality.

The main characters have completely different personalities, but because of that are able to learn and grow from one another.
All of these are complete. The manga mentioned above is also one of my favs but is still ongoing.
the plot is not exactly going anywhere, not that it's bad (i mean slow is alright) but we all need to know why the guy is doing that to him!
I doubt the guy is going to gain feelings for him after all the shit he has done to him.
