My heart goes out to both Sumi and Utou. I don't blame them at all. Utou kindness was also his weakness and Sumi disposition got the best of him. I feel like even if they were together and Sumi didn't get bitten by Shiratori, it still wouldn't work for the simple fact that Utou being a beta wouldn't be enough to control Sumi urges.
