Hooray comment section is back! I have so so so many thoughts on this manga and all of them are good. This is wildly underrated and an instant classic imo. It has such a subdued, literary quality to it, and was honestly quite a sensitive work. It didn’t shy away from Gerard’s uglier behaviors while also showing like how kind he was—a really flawed character who I loved reading about. Jacques was a pleasure, too, but I really found myself most drawn to Gerard’s backstory. That was so well written and sad!

As I read this, I genuinely had no idea where it was going. However, each act fed into the next, and despite the twists and turns, it flowed very well. A twisted love dodecahedron, to be sure, but it all serves to highlight the leads' affection and dedication in the end. There are some strange ideas in here, but they feel accurate to the time period. I really enjoyed this.

I was scared that it might end bad, even in the last chapter. Am so happy they get to be happy together

This author never disappoints. It may have a touch of yaoi logic, ofcourse, but it's nothing compared to the nonsense you have today. Rape is called rape, and VD was even brought up. The whole "uke and seme" roles aren't there, or at least not to the extent you have nowadays... and it has a plot, a plot in yaoi wow. Okay it may not be the most historically accurate, it is fiction at the end of the day, but it has the right amount of tension, backstories and criticism of class structures to make it a pleasing read for a french revoloution manga. To think a yaoi discussing philosophers and literacy greats... plus the infamous marquis de sod whose "Justine" mirrors the libertine wife, who at the very least was free and equal even if she was selfish.

i'm really bad with historic fact but me being french, i learned the revolution at scooil and everything but don't remember if the part with robespierre was like that?..... It was nescessary at that time and it is at our present time sadly but so sad to think that all the work our ancestor did is going to the toilet because of their descendants :(

for the manga it's a masterpiece! i was disgusted at first with our poor Jacques first time but when Gérard explained how his parents had their fortune and all i can't help but understand and forgive. that's why i end up reading the whole things in one go! ^^

i don't regret reading another chapter after ^^ really a good story!
