While the reason why the creepy lil bro is okay and smiling in the ends is bc he's happy that Ayato chose to be man thus can live longer, and he's okay with it bc he go either way (likes guys as well) but he's also angry bc he couldn't separate the two. Plus everyone seems super okay, happy and cheering in the end (minus the bro) thus I assumed he's a man now... Like he and ml does not give "despair bc he'll die soon". Plus ml was very against him being a woman bc of his own experience with his bedridden and sick mom that died young.
I mean even Ayato's mom decided to change clothing bc she chose to be female. And thus Ayato wearing a male outfit during his coronation/debut in the last panel indicated he is showing to the kingdom/his people that he is a man...

Ayato never had a gender in the first place but when by male pronouns, she and her mother had this thing where their gender turn depending on which gender their dating and fall for. Ayato was raise as a boy but never truly had a gender until her loved one came. It’s been 5 years since I read this and I still remember some stuff

I have more than a decade reading yaoi manga, so i thought I was used to rushed endings, but boy, this is on another level. Literally nothing gets solved. All the emotional investment on side characters is thrown away.
The ending was hot garbage. I just threw away 4 hours of my life that I can’t get back. This whole plot was just super confusing nothing made much sense. So yeah fuck this shit.

This is one of the shittiest endings I've ever read. Even Vampire Knight ending was better than this.
