What is the most important thing when you read yaoi manga?

The plot has to be fairly good, but the art shouldn't be lacking too much. If the balance between plot and smut is good, then I like it. What I don't like as much is rape, because it's become boring since it happens so often. I hate boring or repeatedly used plot. Oh and even though I hate children, I really like them in Yaoi for some reason.   reply

The art style is super important for me, as well as the realism in the characters' psychology. The art is crucial because it sets the atmosphere and the aesthetics of the story. I think there must be a balance between story and sex as well, But sometimes I can give up on sex because the story is SO freaking good that I don't mind at all. Lol but actually I really love BDSM mangas even though some don't have a good plot but sex is ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) So yeah, for me is either balanced or one thing is really good to forget ......   reply

The art is super important to me, if it has bad art I can't read it because I end up cringing too much. If there's something that's too cheesy I can't read it. If the story has amazing pacing and development, then I don't mind having little to no sex scenes at all. I wouldn't say I'm very picky with yaois either, whether they have bad story's or "terrible" art, I'll most likely read it to the end just to see how it ends and hopefully it ends with a satisfactory ending. The story has to be interesting, although nice to see basic school boy finds out secret and blackmails other guy into having sex with him is annoying now, please come up with better ideas, next id say is the art and then how deep the feelings the protagonists have for one another and how that feeling develops. :$   4 reply
