Probably a mix of her not wanting to work in a regular office and the shareholders and senior executives not wanting/trusting a young woman in charge. Other companies might not take her seriously either. Stepmother probably has a lot of control since she’s seen as part of her son’s inevitable accession. I imagine she’s been in the dad’s ear their entire marriage saying daughter shouldn’t be “forced” to work for the family business and should be allowed to pursue her own dreams. Meanwhile stepmom & stepbro are consolidating power and badtalking the daughter within the company. I can’t imagine it would be easy to join and be effective in a company where the higher ups don’t like you and everyone thinks you’re a nepo hire. And up until her father’s illness she had no reason to join the company since it was doing fine.

one thing i can't understand is that she has a degree in align with their business, why can't she help with their company in another way. i mean i get it misogyny stuff that women can't inherit the business family but dude she's so submissive that she will let her stepmother order her around and making decisions on such important matters. this isn't the kind of FL i wanna read. also if she knows that her father cherishes that company so much then shouldn't she think more alternative ways to help it ( ughhh sorry i just hate it when a capable woman has to rely on men)
