He's not petty or "immature" as some of you called him. He was chasing after her the entire time and the only time she made a move was by kissing him. She was mostly passive (due to her own reasons and internal conflict) but it's time for her to fight for what she wants. It's normal for him to want assurance and not just the verbal one.
