this!!! i absolutely love this story because of how in depth it is, some people don't seem to understand and only puts it as toxic on the surface level then move on; well, even though it is, the characters all had issues and things they've been through, it made it so realistic by how tragic and how much personality they've got

If you hated this story, you didn't fully comprehend it. Heiner never hated Annette. He hated her father. He hated the lifestyle she represented, but he never truly hated her nor was he as cruel as some of the male leads I'veread about. Annette was naive, but she never came across as a push over. She went on her own path to understand the real world and showed alot of growth during that time. She also set boundaries in her relationship with Heiner.
This story spanned across the years, not mere months or days. They were lengthy separations between the two, including the time during their reconciliation. Both were each others first love and some soul ties are truly hard to sever.
Many times, I end up feeling very frustrated with female leads for giving in too easily to their cold/cruel male lead. Never once did I feel any of that towards Annette and appreciated her willingness and courage to face the real world. She learned to understand why Heiner did what he did and willingly chose to forgive him, then trust him on her own terms.
It's very obvious that Heiner loves Annette more than she loves him and that he is very possessive/obsessed. While I do feel that the author could've delved deeper into Heiner's growth as a character and his path towards healing, overall it was still a very well written story. I only wished that they would have adopted Joseph or were able to have children of their own.
