The simple answer is that deep down MC loves him. He doesn’t want him to get hurt. It’s not that he really hates the ML and the things he’s done, it’s more like MC’s pride is hurt because of it. He doesn’t want to give in despite liking him, because ML rejected him first. That last part MC already thought that his brother misunderstood the situation like it was against his will. Which just shows mc didn’t mind the things ML did.
Like I get that the ML comes from a rich family and has connections, but how has the MC never stopped to think that what the ML did to him is basically just as bad, if not worse, than the brother beating the ML up? If we’re being realistic, the MC was literally kidnapped and forced into doing things he didn’t want to do. Even if that’s common in the yaoi world, it’s still a crime. The brother beating up the ML honestly feels way more tame compared to everything the ML put the MC through
