I completely loathe him. So the author didn't do what you say according to me.
well its kinda the author's decision to write it that way so technically they did that... they made him unlikeable so its their fault right?
But Raymond isn’t likeable lol. In fact, he was even more unlikeable in the novel but the author decided to change the manhwa and give him a happier ending. In the manhwa he accepted her being happy with someone else.

In the novel he couldn’t accept that she didn’t want to be with him and grabbed her by the arm, hurting her wrist with the grab, yelling at her, etc. In the end he left regretting like his father. FL is not friends with him and does not end things on good terms. Though he doesn’t do anything further than that yelling/grabbing part. I’m convinced in the novel, he never liked her romantically, he only felt guilt and saw his mother in her. Hence wanting to do whatever she wanted from then on.

im at chapter 50-ish and byeeee why can't we have a happy ending for everyone... the og ml (raymond) didnt even do anything, why are we making him living through the second ml syndrome at this point everyone is an overthinker and delusional, i can't help but pity them
never make someone extra likeable if they are just some kind of a plot device, then later being thrown away
