so, Trace takes place in the future, so Dan is older (and a side character). But we do see some flashbacks to when he was a teen, and who his love interest was. Thing is, he was fked up back then too. He was a bully to his crush, but more by manipulating others, not getting his hands dirty himself. Like an extreme form of pulling pigtails, he wanted to become important to his crush, but went about it in a very negative way. Idk what more to say without leaving some heavy spoilers, but yeah. What is known from Doom/Brutal is that Dan's crush died, and that was a gamechanger imo. That's when Dan started to go after monsters himself.

So ofc I read brutal and liked dans approch in brutal I've yet to read trace but I'm scared after reading all comments. Can I get a genral idea. Of how bad dan got (or was) I'm not sure
